Pouring a hazy golden colour the first thing that hits you is the aroma of fresh hops pouring out of the glass. Light bodied with a lovely carbonation, this mid strength IPA certainly holds nothing back on flavour. Look for a citrus/piney hit of fresh hops on the palate with a light malt backing and slight bitterness. Ideal for that Sunday BBQ.

OG is a slang term for someone who's incredibly exceptional, authentic, or "old-school." It can be earnestly used for a legend like Michael Jordan or more ironically, like for that friend who can unwrap a Starburst with their mouth.

Port Local, a super clear and bright yellow lager with a tight, fluffy white head that leaves pretty lacing all down the glass. It’s kept simple and clean, combining the sweetness of the Vienna and Pilsner malt with herbaceous, earthy and spicy flavours from the Spalt and Perle hops, finishing super dry and encouraging the drinker to return for more.

So we have a smashable mid, a well-balanced Pale Ale and a big broody, dank citrusy hop-bomb of a IIPA - what’s this IPA going to be like? Well, with a couple of pretty serious beers on either side, our IPA is bright, fruity and full of liquid fun.

The Pils pours crystal clear and light golden in colour with a snow-white meringue head which lingers on top for the whole pint. It has a classic Pilsner Malt nose reminiscent of water crackers which is lifted to another level by a distinctive sun-ripe white grape aroma courtesy of Nelson hops. Dry, bitter and effervescent the beer has all the crisp, clean, refreshing drinking qualities that you want from a Pilsner.

We decided to brew a homage to the most delicious of hops. The plan was pretty straight forward: use a simple malt bill and let the Mosaic do the talking. The resulting beer is as the name implies; a kaleidoscopic journey through tropical flavours.

The brief we gave ourselves for our flagship beer was that it should be able to be sent to any bar in San Diego and to stand proudly alongside the many great Pales produced in, and around, the west coast of the US. The schematic for a West Coast Pale Ale is bucket loads of big US hops, full malty backbone and a characterful yeast. That is what this Pale Ale is all about. Enjoy as fresh as possible.

Pirate Life’s IIPA (Imperial India Pale Ale) comes in a 500ml can and comes on like a freight train, bursting with citrus aromas and belting you in the back palate with hop bitterness. Fortunately all that action is balanced by a strong hop base and what they call “fun juice”; that is, alcohol. The IIPA is 8.8 percent alcohol by volume. It is a lot, but it adds an important rounding quality to the beer.

It almost breaks them. ‘What music do you want Redman?’ asks Jack. ‘Better make it The Hoods, Skip’ replies Red. Five years later we receive an email from their Record Label asking if we’d brew a beer with them. So here it is. The Golden Era Golden Ale.
