CWDS Overview
• CWDS provides the USAF weapon carrying aircraft with integrated solutions to combat aircrew weapon delivery planning: – Supports F-15, F-16, A-10, B-1B, B-2, B-52 Aircraft– Area Attack Planning:
• Calculates AC route from IP to Egress to Next-route-turn-point• Target area planning: pop-up, fly-up, medium altitude, mapping maneuvers. • Formation planning capability for 2-ship elements
– Weapon Delivery Planning:• LGB launch acceptability regions (LARs)• Provides safe escape/safe separation calculations• Collateral damage, and hard target penetration calculations• Computes dive recovery & fuze arming release altitudes

CWDS Overview
• CWDS supports multiple Mission Planning Frameworks– Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS) framework versions– Portable Flight Planning Software (PFPS)
• B-52 currently on PFPS but moving to JMPS• FMS sales still targeting PFPS framework
– Mission Planning System (MPS)• Unix Based• MPS support is required on an as needed bases• B-2 is now in the process of moving to JMPS
• CWDS currently is not a “standalone” product and currently requires a mission planning framework (JMPS, PFPS or MPS) to run

Current and Future Efforts
Where we are today….. Where we are headed…
• Re-architecture effort - Step 1 (CWDS 2.0)– Adapt and modularize CWDS to enable it to be more easily maintained
long term in the JMPS program (and other potential platforms)– Improve the extensibility, reusability, and compatibility of CWDS to
enable it to be easier to adapt to new user requirements– Remove Comm/VB6 code – move to .NET environment (JMPS
Requirement) – Run CWDS outside of the JMPS process
• Improved Graphical Interface - Step 2 (CWDS 2.1)

CWDS Requirements Process
• HQ Air Combat Command (ACC) directs requirements and funding– CWDS Requirements Review Board (RRB)
• Hosted by USAF Fighter Weapon School
• Chaired by ACC/A3TW
• Attended by ACC/A8SM, Operational users & CWDS team
– ACC decides MPE need dates
• Electronic Systems Center (ESC) set the JMPS FW release dates
• RRB Rack and Stack Process
– Review current priority of requirements & prioritize any new
requirements that have been requested in the past year
– Priority 1 & 2 requirements are then ranked
