Also, samples of traditional foods are sold by a local restaurant or caterer specializing in the featured country’s cuisine. Upon arrival guests can have their photo taken and placed in an “Urban Expedition Passport.” At the end of the season, children with passport stamps from each Urban Expedition can enter into a prize drawing.

Urban Expeditions are funded in part by RBC Wealth Management, with additional support from Minnesota Parent. They are part of the Sundays at Landmark series, presented by Minnesota Landmarks and proudly sponsored in part by Ecolab and Travelers. Nonperishable food donations will be collected at all Urban Expeditions and donated to The Food Group. For more information visit www.landmarkcenter.org/urban.html.

The Rose Ensemble LectureFeb. 17; Courtroom 317; 12 pm; Free

Join The Rose Ensemble for a lecture with guest speaker, Professor Yossi Maurey, from Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and musical demonstrations by Ensemble members.

The Sainte-Chapelle chapel, built by the French King, Louis IX was intended to house his collection of Passion relics, including Christ’s Crown of Thorns and fragments of the True Cross—the most important relics in medieval Christendom. For centuries after its consecration in 1248, this architectural masterpiece was also home to some of the most exquisite medieval and Renaissance vocal music ever written. Professor Maurey will speak about King Louis IX, the origins and history of Sainte-Chapelle and its relics, and their relationship and impact on the musical elements of the liturgy.
