Gotham served as construction manager for 801 Amsterdam Avenue, a 15-story, 166,000 sf, mixed-use residential building located at the southeast corner of West 100th Street, which is part of the multiple-building Columbus Square development. The building comprises 100 high-end rental apartment units, a luxurious lobby entrance, a world-class gym, and a landscaped roof garden. There is also 16,000 sf of parking and 50,000 sf of retail space on the first 2 floors, complete with escalators and elevators. The structure consists of a 2-story steel-framed podium with a multistory concrete structure above it. Logistical controls played a prominent role in the construction of this building, given the 50’ deep foundation into bedrock that was required and the project’s proximity to an adjacent playground, a century-old church, neighboring elementary school, and police-firehouse precinct.
