pounds a rise of theft across

Fonthill Gifford, Swallow-cliffe and Tisbury have been af-fected, and the removal of trail-ers and garden machinery hasbeen a speciality. Please let usknow if you see anything evenremotely suspicious; it maymake all the difference in solv-ing a crime.

Anti-social behaviour is alsoon the rise, particularly in Tis-bury. Again, if you see some-thing you don’t like, give us aring. We aren’t always on theend of the phone, but with thenewly formed Police Informa-tion Point you have a much bet-ter chance of getting a local an-swer, and you will always geta response from the Devizesnumber - see below.

We are also getting reports ofhare coursing, an ugly activity, illegal, and on the increase; it issomething we take very serious-ly so let us know if you see anything.

Following last month’s bulle-tin, we were delighted to receivemany helpful reports. Betterstill, on January 21, we stoppeda mini moto being driven along-Hindon Lane, Tisbury and wewere able to seize and destroythe vehicle. The rider is due toappear in court following sever-

More quiet on thewestern frontSINCE THE ARREST of our

on that front!I still recommend marking

these items as no doubt anotherseries will happen.

More recently we have had acouple of thefts of diesel fromfarms - again a sign of the times. On Janaury 31, a suspect wasseen driving a green Peugeot 406estate P298VRH on to a farm inBroadchalke carrying three 25litre drums and helping himself.I arrested two males carryingstolen metal girders on the backof their Ford Transit Van

- again this type of theft is alsofairly common at present.

It’s always good to recordregistrations of any vehiclescarrying metal, as not onlycan we consider theft but alsothe Environment Agency canprosecute for other offencesrelating to carriage of waste.

Lastly, a despicable crimeoccurred in Teffont on theFebruary 8 when someone stolemoney from an honesty box inplace for selling eggs. The eggfarmer (whose second job is theEditor for this magazine!) wasupset that someone could dothis - especially as a whole day’stakings (Ed's beer money!) werestolen, including the eggs.PC Pete Jung, Wilton
