This letter was written during his first Roman imprisonment.
This letter was also to be read to the Saints in Laodicea

Historical Background: *Colosse and larger neighboring cities of Hierapolis and Laodicea was a successful mercantile city in Asia Minor.
•A man named Epaphras, know as “a faithful minister of Christ” was converted by Paul and spread the gospel throughout the region. However false religion was also accepted in Colosse.
* Epaphras, unable to deal with the situation went to Rome. Paul wrote this letter sometime around A.D. 60-62.

* Correcting the false Greek and Jewish ideas by teaching that Christ is the very image of God.
