InstallationColorBlast TR fixtures are designed for easy setup, configuration, and teardown YoucanconnectColorBlastTRfixturesdirectlytoapower/datasupply,suchasthePDS-750TRX,usingthebuilt-in6ft(1.8m)powercablewithstandardXLRconnector.

Owner / User Responsibilities Itistheresponsibilityofthecontractor,installer,purchaser,owner,andusertoinstall, maintain, and operate ColorBlast TR fixtures in such a manner as to comply withallapplicablecodes,stateandlocallaws,ordinances,andregulations.Consultwith the appropriate electrical inspector to ensure compliance.

Create a Lighting Design Plan and Layout Grid1. Determinetheappropriatelocationofeachpower/datasupplyinrelationtothe

lightfixtures,andofthelightfixturesinrelationtoeachother.

ColorBlastTRconnectstothepower/datasupplyoverabuilt-in6ft(1.8m)powercablewithastandard4-pinXLRmaleconnector.ThepowercablecanbeextendedwithastandardXLRmaletoXLRfemalepatchcable,uptoamaximumoveralllengthof60ft(18m).

ThenumberofColorBlastTRfixturesthateachpower/datasupplycansupportisdeterminedbythesuchfactorsasthesupply’scapacityandnumberofavailableports,linevoltage,circuitload,voltagedrop,andcablelengths.ThePDS-750TRX,forexample,cansupportupto12ColorBlastTRfixtures,eachwithacableofupto60ft(18m).

2. Onanarchitecturaldiagramorotherdiagramthatshowsthephysicallayoutoftheinstallation,identifythelocationsofallswitches,controllers,power/datasupplied,fixtures,andcables.

Start the Installation 1. Installallpower/datasupplies,includinganyinterfaceswithcontrollers.Power

/datasuppliesandexternalcontrollerssendpowerandcontrolsignalstothefixturesoverthefixture’sleadercable.

2. Verifythatalladditionalsupportingequipment(switches,controllers)isinplace.

3. Ensurethatalladditionalpartsandtoolsareavailable,including:

• Theincluded3/16inhexkeywrenchforlockingthefixturesinposition

• APhillipsheadscrewdriverforremovingthebezelscrews

• C-clampsorbasesforpipe,truss,orfloormounting,asrequired

Install the Fixtures MakesurethepowerisOFFbeforemountingandconnectingColorBlastTRfixtures.

1. ThemountingbaseofeachColorBlastTRfixtureprovidesaclearanceholefora1/2inboltformountingtoapipe,truss,weightedbase,orfloorusingastandardtheatricalC-clamporothermountinghardware.WhenmountingColorBlastTR,ensurethattheinstallationissuitableandsafeandthatthehardwareisproperlyrated for the task.

2.WhenmountingColorBlastTRfixturesonthefloororabase,ensurethatthefixturesitsflushtothesurfaceandusemountinghardwaresuitableforthemounting surface.

3. ConnecteachColorBlastTRfixturetoanavailablefemale4-pinoutputonthepower/datasupply,ColorBlastTRfixturesareprovidedwithapermanentlyconnected6ft(1.8m)cable.ThecablecanbeextendedwithastandardXLRmaletoXLRfemalepatchcable,uptoamaximumoveralllengthof60ft (18m).

Exchanging ColorBlast TR LensesColorBlast12TRisdesignedtoletyouquicklyandeasilyexchangelenses.Theclear10ºlensisdesignedforlongthrowandspotlightingapplications,whilethefrosted23ºlensisdesignedforwashlightingapplications.The23ºlensisfactoryinstalled,andthe10ºlensisincludedinthebox.

1. Removetheprotectivecoverfromthefixture.

2. UsingaPhillipsheadscrewdriver,removethetwolock-downscrewslocatedoneachsideofthefixtureatthetopofthebezel.(Donotremovethepivotscrewsontheedgeofthebezelclosesttothebase.)

3. Usingthetabsonthebezel,pivotthebezelforwardtoaccessthelens.

4. Remove the installed lens.

5. Cleanbothsidesofthelensusingamild,non-abrasivecleaner.Handlethelensbythegasket,makingsurenottotouchorsoileithersurface.Placethelensinthefixturehousing,makingsurethegasketaroundthelensisproperlyfitted.

6. Closethebezel,tightenthelock-downscrews,andreplacetheprotectivecover.

Protective Cover

E To ease removal and replacement of the protective cover, run the f ixture at full power until the heat from the f ixture housing softens the cover material.

Attach Safety Cable (optional)EachColorBlastTRfixtureisdesignedforusewithasafetycabletotetherittoasecureanchorpoint.Whendictatedbylocalorstatecodeoradvisedbyastructuralengineer,attachasafetycabletothebracketonthebackofthefixtureusingastandardcarabinerclip.Attachthesafetycabletothemountingsurfaceusingamethodthatfollowsthecodeorengineer’srequirements.

Address and Configure the FixturesMakesurethepowerisONbeforeaddressingandconfiguringfixtures.

ColorBlastTRfixturesoperatein8-bitmodebydefault.YoucanconfigureColorBlastTRtooperatein16-bitmode,whichincreasesfixtureresolutionforsmoother dimming.

In8-bitmode,fixturesuseoneDMXaddressperLEDchannel(red,green,andblue).In16-bitmode,fixturesusetwoDMXaddressesperLEDchannel.ThefirstDMXaddresscorrespondstothe“coarse”dataforthatchannel,andthesecondcorrespondstothe“fine”data.ByusingdoublethenumberofDMXaddresses,16-bitmodeincreasesfixtureresolutionfrom256dimmingstepsto65,536(256x256)dimmingsteps.

ColorBlastTRfixturescomefactory-addressedwithastartingDMXaddressof1.Forlightshowdesignswherefixturesworkinunison,allfixturescanbeassignedthesamestartingDMXaddress.Forlightshowdesignsthatshowdifferentcolorsondifferentfixturessimultaneously,youmustassignuniqueDMXaddressestoyourfixtures and sort them in a useful order.

ThePDS-750TRXandotherpower/datasuppliesfromCityTheatricalInc.offerconvenient, automatic addressing appropriate for most ColorBlast TR installations. Startingfromabasenumberthatyousetusingonboardcontrols,thepower/datasupplyautomaticallyassignsunique,sequentialDMXaddressestotheinstalledfixtures.Ifyourfixtureswerepreviouslyaddressedforuseinotherinstallations,youcaneasilyresetthemtostartingDMXaddress1withthepower/datasupply’sbuilt-inMini-Zapibutton.RefertotheOperator’sManualofyourpower/datasupplyforcomplete details.

Aim and Lock the FixturesUsing the provided hex key wrench, loosen the tilting set screws located on the front ofthefixture’smountingbase.Aimthefixturebytiltingthebeamasdesired.Tightenthe set screws to lock the fixture in place.
