Alpenglow Youth Workshop
MANY NEW ACCOMPLISHMENTSWe continued to focus on community outreach and brought
several new programs to the Upper East River Valley including thesuccessful Kids Art Camp and the Alpenglow Youth Workshops. Weraised over $40,000 at our auction in March and our signaturefundraising series, Tour De Forks, brought in over $50,000 fromthose appreciating the Culinary Arts. And the greatestaccomplishment of all…saying goodbye to Pat Crow as our ExecutiveDirector after sixteen years of service to the Center.
ON THE FACILITIES FRONTAs the fiscal year began we received an extremely generous
donation from an anonymous donor restricted to expansion andimprovement of our current building. Conversations with the Town ofCrested Butte and our valued customers continued on how best toprovide improved facilities that would serve Crested Butte’s artsorganizations now and into the future. And most remarkably, just aswe began a campaign to raise funds to replace our piano, Mead andDiane Metcalf donated their seven foot Baldwin grand piano to theCenter for use by the entire community.
THE SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS OF THE ARTSThe Center for the Arts has been essential to the health and vitality
of our community for more than 20 years. The arts have improved ourquality of life in so many ways: enhancing community development,attracting and supporting local businesses, drawing tourism dollarsand creating an environment that attracts skilled and educatedworkers. A study conducted in 2005 through the Americans for theArts found that Gunnison County nonprofit arts and culture groupsgenerate $5.5 million in economic activity annually. The arts are trulyan investment in a healthy and thriving community.
Each day we are humbled by the amazing support we receive fromso many dedicated community members. The Center is alive andthriving so please come and be inspired by what you experience andlearn. Come together with other members of your community toappreciate that which makes us human. Examine what you truly value.Feed your soul. We are all in this together.

A REPORT ON THE FISCAL YEAR NOVEMBER 1, 2007 THROUGH OCTOBER 31, 2008.During the fiscal year November 1, 2007 to October 31, 2008, there were 93 performances (27 Center presentations, 66 rental performances),57 rehearsals, and 6 other uses. There were 21 programs in the visual arts: 16 shows in the Piper Gallery plus 5 arts education programsspanning 15 days. Total attendance for the year was 21,943.
