LOCATION Colombia It's a country located in America.

It's bordered by Venezuela (Northeast), Brasil (Southeast), Perú and Ecuador (Southwest),

Pacific Ocean (West), Panamá (Northwest) and Caribbean Ocean (North).

CAPITAL

The capital of Colombia is Bogotá.

It has a population of about 10.763.453.

FLAG The flag of Colombia has a yellow stripe

taking up the top half of the flag and the blue and red take up a quarter of the bottom half.

Yellow represents all the gold found in the Colombian land, blue represents the seas on Colombia's shores and red represents the blood spilled for Colombia's independence.

COAT OF ARMS

The coat of arms consists on many symbols.

It represents the history and culture of Colombia.

LANGUAGES

The most common language is Spanish, also called Castilian; 65 Amerindian

languages, two Creole languages and the Romani language are also spoken in the country. English has official status in the

San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina Islands.

In addition to Colombian Spanish, a total of 101 languages are listed for Colombia in

the Ethnologue database.

GOVERNMENT

The Government is a republic with separation of powers into executive,

judicial and legislative branches.

The name of president is Juan Manuel Santos.

FOOD Some of the most common ingredients are:

cereals such as rice and maize; tubers such as potato and cassava; assorted

legumes; meats, including beef, chicken, pork and goat; fish; and seafood.

  Arepa: is a flatbread made of ground maize dough or cooked flour.

SPORTS

The most practiced sport is Soccer 

Colombia has also excelled in sports such as taekwondo, shooting, wrestling, judo, bow

ling, athletics and has a long tradition in weightlifting.

RELIGION

Based on various studies and a survey, about 90% of the population adheres to Christianity, the

majority of which (70.9%) are Roman Catholic. 16.7% of Colombians adhere

to Protestantism (primarily Evangelicalism), 4.7% are Atheists and Agnostics, 3.5% claim to believe in God, but they don't believe in religion. 1.8% of

Colombians belong to other religions.
