GENERAL PROJECT INFORMATION1. THE INTENT OF THIS PROJECT IS TO IMPROVE THE EXISTING WELLHEAD INFRASTRUCTURE FOR TWENTY (20) WELLS IN THE COLLIER COUNTY SOUTH RO WELLFIELD. THESE INCLUDE WELLS 18S THROUGH 38S WITH THE EXCEPTION OF WELL 32S, AS DETAILED IN THE PLANS. THE IMPROVEMENTS INCLUDE THE INSTALLATION OF 6-INCH DIAMETER ISOLATION VALVES, STAINLESS STEEL PIPING AS NEEDED, AND NEW CHECK VALVES. ALL MATERIALS SHALL BE 316 STAINLESS STEEL, PICKLED AND PASSIVIZED. THE CONTRACTOR WILL NEED TO PERFORM FIELD MEASUREMENTS TO VERIFY DIMENSIONS FOR PROPER FITTING. SPACERS OR ALTERATIONS TO THE PIPING LENGTHS MAY BE REQUIRED INCLUDING CUTTING AND WELDING STAINLESS STEEL PIPING, IF NECESSARY. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR RECONNECTING THE AIR RELEASE VALVES AND OTHER APPURTENANCES, IF NECESSARY.2. ALL WELLS OPERATE UNDER ARTESIAN PRESSURE. IN ORDER TO PERFORM THE PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS, THE CONTRACTOR MUST FIRST SUBCONTRACT THE WORK TO A FLORIDA LICENSED DRILLER TO SUPPRESS THE ARTESIAN FLOW IN EACH WELL. THE TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR SALT PLUGGING THE WELLS ARE LOCATED BELOW. THIS PROCEDURE MUST BE PERFORMED BEFORE REPLACEMENT OF ANY INFRASTRUCTURE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT A CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCING SCHEDULE AS PART OF INITIAL SUBMITTALS. ONLY TWO WELLS MAY BE TAKEN OUT OF SERVICE AT A TIME. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH THE COUNTY AND PROVIDE A 24-HOUR NOTIFICATION PRIOR TO INITIATING SALT PLUGGING ON ANY WELL. ALL NEW MATERIALS SHALL BE ONSITE PRIOR TO INITIATING SALT PLUGGING. IT IS RECOMMENDED THE CONTRACTOR PERFORM A SITE VISIT TO EACH WELL SITE AS WELL AS THE DEEP INJECTION WELL SYSTEM AT THE SCRWTP PRIOR TO BIDDING THE PROJECT TO FAMILIARIZE THEMSELVES WITH EACH WELL AND PIPING CONFIGURATION. THE WATER/WASTEWATER GENERATED FROM THE WELL KILLING PROCESS PRIOR TO THE NEW VALVE WORK AND POST FLUSHING MUST BE RECOVERED AND DISPOSED OF, AS DIRECTED BY SCRWTP PLANT STAFF, VIA THE DEEP INJECTION WELL SYSTEM LOCATED AT THE SCRWTP.

GENERAL PROJECT DATA1. PLANS FOR THESE DRAWINGS WERE BASED ON VISUAL INSPECTION AND THE AS BUILT DRAWINGS FOR THE WELLFIELD. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR VERIFYING ALL DIMENSIONS AND LENGTHS.2. ANY CHARACTERISTICS OR CONFLICTS IN THE DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE ENGINEER AND CLARIFICATION ISSUED BEFORE THE CONTRACTOR SUBMITS HIS BID. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT THE ENGINEER/OWNER IMMEDIATELY IF ANY CONFLICTS ARE FOUND DURING CONSTRUCTION.3. DAMAGE TO EXISTING FACILITIES DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE REPAIRED AND/OR REPLACED AT CONTRACTORS EXPENSE.4. PERFORM ALL WORK IN A SAFE MANNER, FOLLOW ALL SAFETY RULES AND GUIDELINES OF OSHA. THE CONTRACTOR IS WHOLLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY INJURIES OF HIS EMPLOYEES, INTRUDERS, AND ANY DAMAGE TO PRIVATE PROPERTY OR PERSONS DURING THE COURSE OF THIS PROJECT.5. ALL EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS SHALL BE INSTALLED AS RECOMMENDED BY THE MANUFACTURER.SUBMITTALS.1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT SHOP DRAWINGS TO THE ENGINEER FOR APPROVAL PRIOR TO ORDERING THE MATERIALS IF REQUIRED FOR CONSTRUCTION. NO MATERIALS SHALL BE BROUGHT ONSITE WITHOUT SHOP DRAWING APPROVAL. CUT SHEETS FOR THE MATERIALS TO BE PROVIDED BY COLLIER COUNTY ARE ATTACHED.2. CONTRACTOR SHALL EXERCISE CARE IN TRANSPORTING AND HANDLING ALL MATERIALS IN ORDER TO AVOID DAMAGE. LIFTING SHALL BE BY HOIST OR SKIDS WHEN HAND LIFTING IS NOT FEASIBLE. STORE MATERIALS AS RECOMMENDED BY THE MANUFACTURER. DAMAGED MATERIALS SHALL BE REPLACED AT THE CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE.

BUTTERFLY VALVES1. TWENTY BUTTERFLY VALVES (6” DEZURIK HP LUG BFV 316SS) WILL BE PROVIDED BY COLLIER COUNTY AND SHALL MEET OR EXCEED THE DESIGN STRENGTH, TESTING AND PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS OF AWWA C504, CLASS 150. A COMPLETE PARTS LIST OF MATERIAL TO BE PROVIDED BY THE COUNTY IS ATTACHED. THE TEXT BELOW IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. 2. THE COUNTY SHALL PROVIDE NUTS, BOLTS, WASHERS, AND GASKETS FOR INSTALLATION OF THE BUTTERFLY VALVE AND CHECK VALVES. 3. VALVE BODY SHALL BE MECHANICAL JOINT END TYPE VALVE CONSTRUCTED OF 316 SS, PICKLED AND PASSIVIZED. 4. DISC SHALL BE ONE PIECE CAST DESIGN WITH NO EXTERNAL RIBS TRANSVERSE TO FLOW. DISC SHALL BE CAST IRON OR DUCTILE IRON.5. THE RESILIENT SEAT SHALL BE BONDED TO THE VALVE BODY AND SHALL MATE WITH THE 316 STAINLESS STEEL SURFACE.6. VALVE SHAFTS SHALL BE ONE PIECE EXTENDED COMPLETELY THROUGH THE DISC OR STUB SHAFTS EXTENDING 1½ TIMES THE SHAFT DIAMETER INTO THE DISC. VALVE SHAFT DIAMETER SHALL BE AS REQUIRED BY AWWA C504. VALVE SHAFTS SHALL BE OF 316 STAINLESS STEEL. DISC TO STEM CONNECTIONS OR TURNED DOWN PORTIONS OF THE SHAFTS SHALL BE DESIGNED TO TRANSMIT SHAFT TORQUE EQUIVALENT TO 75% OF THE REQUIRED SHAFT DIAMETER. BUSHINGS SHALL BE OF STAINLESS STEEL. SEALS MAY BE PRE-LOADED BY PACKING GLAND MECHANISM.7. MANUAL VALVE OPERATORS SHALL BE DESIGNED TO HOLD THE VALVE DISC IN ANY INTERMEDIATE POSITION BETWEEN FULLY OPENED AND FULLY CLOSED WITHOUT CREEPING OR FLUTTERING. THE OPERATOR SHALL BE CAPABLE OF TRANSMITTING SUFFICIENT TORQUE TO OPEN OR CLOSE EACH VALVE UNDER THE MOST ADVERSE OPERATING CONDITIONS. AN INDICATING ARROW SHALL BE PROVIDED TO GIVE FULL CLOSED, FULL OPEN, OR INTERMEDIATE DISC POSITION INDICATORS.8. VALVES ARE DEZURIK, PER THE COUNTY'S APPROVED PRODUCT LIST, OR EQUAL.9. THE HEIGHT OF THE VALVE SHALL CONFORM TO THE HEIGHT OF THE CONNECTING PIPE. VALVES SHALL BE SET IN A VERTICAL POSITION UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS. STEMS SHALL NEVER BE BELOW A HORIZONTAL POSITION.10. OPEN AND CLOSE EACH VALVE OBSERVING FULL OPERATION PRIOR TO INSTALLING SUCCESSIVE LENGTHS OF PIPE.

CONTROL VALVES1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL A CHECK VALVE AT THE LOCATION SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS AND SPECIFIED HEREIN. TWENTY CHECK VALVES (APCO RUBBER FLAPPER SWING 6” CHECK VALVE MODEL 100SR) WILL BE SUPPLIED BY COLLIER COUNTY. A COMPLETE PARTS LIST OF MATERIAL TO BE PROVIDED BY THE COUNTY IS ATTACHED. VALVE AND BODY INTERNAL SHALL BE SUITABLE FOR AGGRESSIVE WATER CONDITIONS WITH A HIGH SALINITY CONTENT.2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL LABOR, MATERIAL, EQUIPMENT, AND INCIDENTALS REQUIRED FOR THE PROPER COMPLETION OF THE WORK. ANY INCIDENTALS OR MISSING EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR A COMPLETE INSTALLATION SHALL BE PROVIDED BY THE CONTRACTOR AT NO EXTRA COST, IF NECESSARY.3. COUNTY STAFF WILL COLLECT WATER QUALITY SAMPLES FROM EACH WELL PRIOR TO AND AFTER WORK IS COMPLETED. EACH SAMPLE WILL BE ANALYZED FOR SPECIFIC CONDUCTIVITY AND TURBIDITY. EACH WELL WILL NEED TO BE FLUSHED UNTIL THE WELL HAS REACHED BACKGROUND CONDITIONS.4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PERFORM THE 2 DAY BAC T SAMPLING PURSUANT TO FDEP SOP.5. HYDRAULIC NON-SLAM CHECK VALVE (THE TEXT BELOW IN THIS SECTION IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY.)6. FUNCTION: THE HYDRAULIC NON-SLAM CHECK VALVE WILL BE PROVIDED BY COLLIER COUNTY AND SHALL BE A DOUBLE CHAMBERED DESIGN, HYDRAULICALLY OPERATED, DIAPHRAGM ACTUATED CONTROL VALVE. THE DIAPHRAGM ACTUATED CONTROL VAL VE SHALL BE HYDRAULICALLY POWERED TO THE FULLY OPEN POSITION DURING SYSTEM FLOW WHEN UPSTREAM PRESSURE EXCEEDS DOWNSTREAM PRESSURE. IF PRESSURE CONDITIONS REVERSE, THE MAIN VALVE SHALL CLOSE OFF DRIP TIGHT PREVENTING BACK FLOW.7. DESCRIPTION: THE VALVE SHALL BE HYDRAULICALLY OPERATED, DIAPHRAGM ACTUATED, Y-PATTERN GLOBE STYLE. 8. VALVE BODY: THE VALVE BODY AND COVER SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED OF A HIGH STRENGTH DUCTILE IRON CONFORMING TO ASTM A536. THE VALVE SHALL BE PRESSURE RATED AT 250 PSI. THE VALVE BODY SHALL BE INTERNALLY AND EXTERNALLY COATED WITH AN NSF 61 APPROVED EPOXY POWDER- FUSION BONDED.THE VALVE STEM AND SEAT SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED OF 316 STAINLESS STEEL. ALL REPAIRS SHALL BE POSSIBLE WITHOUT REMOVING THE VALVE BODY FROM THE LINE. THE VALVE BODY SHALL HAVE INTEGRAL FLANGES, FACED AND DRILLED PER ANSI CLASS 150. THE SEAT AREA SHALL HAVE A FLOW OPENING WITHOUT STEM GUIDES, BEARINGS OR SUPPORTING RIBS.ACTUATOR: THE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY SHALL BE DOUBLE CHAMBERED DIAPHRAGM OPERATED. THE ACTUATOR SHALL BE CAPABLE OF BEING CHANGED TO A SINGLE CHAMBER CONFIGURATION IN THE FIELD WITHOUT THE ADDITION OR SUBTRACTION OF ANY PARTITIONS OR CHAMBERS. THE VALVE STEM SHALL BE GUIDED BY A REPLACEABLE BEARING BUSHINGS TO ASSURE ALIGNMENT FOR TRUE SEAL AND CONTROL. THE DIAPHRAGM SHALL CONSIST OF NYLON FABRIC, BONDED WITH EPDM ELASTOMERS, COMPATIBLE WITH THE OPERATING FLUID. THE ENTIRE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY CONSISTING OF THE V-PORT THROTTLING PLUG, VALVE SHAFT, BEARING, DIAPHRAGM ASSEMBLY, SEPARATING PARTITION AND TOP COVER MUST BE REMOVABLE FROM THE VALVE AS A SINGLE UNIT. THE CONTROL CHAMBER BETWEEN THE DIAPHRAGM AND THE SEPARATING PARTITION SHALL BE CAPABLE OF BEING OPEN TO OR ISOLATED FROM THE VALVE INTERNAL BODY PRESSURE. NO PISTON VALVE OPERATED ACTUATORS WILL BE ACCEPTED. THE ACTUATOR SHALL INCLUDE AN AV-PORT THROTTLING PLUG FOR SMOOTH VALVE OPERATION.9. PILOT CONTROL SYSTEM: THE CONTROL LOOP SHALL CONTAIN BOTH AN ADJUSTABLE OPENING AND CLOSING SPEED CONTROL THAT PROVIDES FOR A SMOOTH NON-SLAM CLOSING OF THE MAIN VALVE. THE SPEED CONTROLS SHALL ALL BE REPLACEABLE WITHOUT TAKING THE MAIN VALVE OUT OF SERVICE. COCK VALVES AND FILTERS MUST BE SUPPLIED IN THE CONTROL LOOP.10. TESTING: PRIOR TO SHIPMENT, THE VALVE SHALL PASS STANDARD TESTS THAT INCLUDE A PRESSURE TEST AND A FULL FUNCTION, OPERATIONAL TEST. TEST RESULTS SHALL BE SUBMITTED PRIOR TO INSTALLATION.9. WARRANTY: THE VALVE MANUFACTURER SHALL WARRANT THE VALVE TO BE FREE OF DEFECTS IN MATERIAL AND WORKMANSHIP FOR A PERIOD OF 1 YEAR FROM THE DATE OF SHIPMENT.11. WARRANTY: THE VALVE MANUFACTURER SHALL WARRANT THE VALVE TO BE FREE OF DEFECTS IN MATERIAL AND WORKMANSHIP FORA PERIOD OF 1 YEAR FROM THE DATE OF SHIPMENT.

PIPING ACCESSORIES1. PIPING ACCESSORIES WILL BE SUPPLIED BY COLLIER COUNTY. A COMPLETE PARTS LIST OF MATERIAL TO BE PROVIDED BY THE COUNTY IS ATTACHED. (THE TEXT BELOW IN THIS SECTION IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY.) BOLTS AND NUTS FOR FLANGES SHALL BE TYPE 316 STAINLESS STEEL CONFORMING TO ASTM A 193, GRADE B8M, FOR BOLTS, AND ASTM A 194, GRADE SM, FOR NUTS. PROVIDE WASHER FOR EACH NUT, WASHERS SHALL BE OF SIMILAR MATERIAL AS THE NUTS. ANY INCIDENTALS OR MISSING EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR A COMPLETE INSTALLATION SHALL BE PROVIDED BY THE CONTRACTOR AT NO EXTRA COST, IF NECESSARY.2. COUNTY WILL PROVIDE GASKETS FOR FLANGES, AS REQUIRED. GASKETS SHALL BE COMPOSED OF NSF APPROVED MATERIAL FOR WATER SERVICE OF AMBIENT TEMPERATURE.

PRESSURE AND LEAKAGE TESTING1. PIPING SHALL BE SLOWLY FILLED WITH WATER AND ALL AIR EXPELLED. CARE SHALL BE TAKEN THAT ALL AIR VALVES ARE INSTALLED AND OPEN IN THE SECTION BEING FILLED, AND THAT THE RATE OF FILLING DOES NOT EXCEED THE VENTING CAPACITY OF THE AIR VALVES.2. APPLY HYDROSTATIC TEST PRESSURE OF 150 PSI FOR 10 MINUTES AND FOR SUCH ADDITIONAL PERIOD NECESSARY FOR THE ENGINEER TO COMPLETE THE INSPECTION OF THE LINE UNDER TEST. DO NOT EXCEED PIPE MANUFACTURER'S SUGGESTED TIME DURATION AT THE TEST PRESSURE. IF DEFECTS ARE NOTED, REPAIRS SHALL BE MADE AND THE TEST REPEATED UNTIL ALL PARTS OF THE LINE WITHSTAND THE TEST PRESSURE.3. APPLY LEAKAGE TEST PRESSURE OF 150 PSI. MAINTAIN PRESSURE AT A MAXIMUM VARIATION OF 5 PERCENT DURING THE ENTIRE LEAKAGE TESTS THE DURATION OF THE LEAKAGE TEST SHALL BE TWO HOURS MINIMUM, AND FOR SUCH ADDITIONAL TIME NECESSARY FOR THE ENGINEER TO COMPLETE INSPECTION OF THE SECTION OF LINE UNDER TESTS LEAKAGE MEASUREMENTS SHALL NOT BE STARTED UNTIL A CONSTANT TEST PRESSURE HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED.4. NO LEAKAGE IS ALLOWED IN EXPOSED PIPING, BURIED PIPING WITH FLANGED, THREADED, OR WELDED JOINTS ON THE POTABLE WATER LINES.5. ALL APPARENT LEAKS DISCOVERED WITHIN ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF THE WORK BY THE OWNER SHALL BE LOCATED AND REPAIRED BY CONTRACTOR, REGARDLESS OF THE TOTAL LINE LEAKAGE RATE.

SEQUENCE OF TESTING AND DISINFECTIONTHE SEQUENCE OF TESTING AND DISINFECTION SHALL BE AS FOLLOWS:1. CONDUCT PRESSURE AND LEAKAGE TESTING2. PERFORM FLUSHING3. DISINFECT THE WATER MAIN, INCLUDING VALVES AND FITTINGS4. FLUSH AFTER DISINFECTION.5. PERFORM REQUIRED BAC-T SAMPLING AND ANALYSESSITE RESTORATIONTHE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR RESTORING ALL DISTURBED AREAS BACK TO ORIGINAL CONDITION.

PRODUCTION WELL KILL CALCULATIONS AND PROCEDURE1. DETERMINE THE DIAMETER OF THE WELL.2. DETERMINE THE “SHUT IN” PRESSURE OF THE WELL EITHER IN PSI OR FEET OF HEAD.3. Description of Operation and MaterialsAPCO rubber flapper swing check valves are uniquely simple in design but durable for use on a variety of applications.

With only three major parts: Body, Flapper & Cover, there is relatively no maintenance. However, should maintenance be required, the flapper can be replaced in a matter of minutes. The valve body seat is on an angle of 45° to the centerline of the pipe, permitting horizontal or vertical flow up installation. With the flapper full open, there is a straight unobstructed flow passage, so all foreign matter is flushed away by the flowing medium. This eliminates clogging. Due to this unobstructed flow passage the pressure drop is considerably lower through the APCO Rubber Flapper Check than through conventional swing check valves.

Normally made of Cast or Ductile Iron, but readily supplied in Stainless Steel or Bronze, the valve can be lined or coated with various materials.

The flapper is normally Buna-N but can be compression molded from various synthetic rubbers. A steel disc for strength and a steel bar are molded inside the flapper. A hi-strength fabric is integrally molded over the disc and bar to form a flexible joint permitting millions of flexes without failure. For operation with aggressive media, Buna-N has excellent abrasion resistant qualities. When the valve is assembled the flapper is firmly clamped between body and cover. This feature eliminates problems of moving parts, shafts, pins, bearings, bushings, packings (as required in conventional check valves). Further, this flapper design eliminates jamming or sticking in the open position and the O-ring seal molded into the disc face assures positive sealing, even at lower pressures. Recommended for buried service with stainless steel cover bolts. Rated 125#/150# Class for 175 psi differential pressure. Higher pressure class available.

Backflow Device Optional Feature on 3" and LargerOften Pump Station Operators find it convenient to force open the Swing Check Valve by its outside lever, for the purpose of Backflushing, Priming Pumps, or to Drain the System. This is a dangerous procedure! The APCO Backflow Device meets OSHA requirements for safety because it is easily activated without risk of injury to operating personnel during a

backflow procedure. This Backflow Device is positive and will not slip during full backflow.

The Backflow Device can be removed for service without removing the check valve or taking the pump out of service. Size 3" and 4" (80 and 100mm) Backflow Devices are constructed of Bronze ASTM B-584 as approved by U.S. Navy for fleet service.

104P3 StoryNotice there are two 4" (100mm) APCO Rubber Flapper Swing Check Valves!

Model 104 is a full size 4" (100mm) check valve for normal water service.

Model 104P3, designed specifically for raw sewage with a flow area thru the seat almost twice (23.76", 604mm) that of standard pipe (12.73", 323mm), permitting the 104P3 to pass a 3" (76mm) diameter solid as required by many states and municipalities for 4" (100mm) check valves used on sewage.

This feature is of special interest to sewage lift station designers.

Flow Control Option Need to Throttle or Shut-Off Flow?The Flow Control device is used to restrict the position of the flapper for the purpose of regulating flow into the system or to create a false head on the pump.

The device is mounted on the cover of the valve and when manually operated will prevent the flapper from fully opening. With this device, the Rubber Flapper Check Valve can be used as a stop check.

Proximity Switch Option Need a Signal That the Check Valve is Open?An inductive type Proximity Switch can be furnished mounted on the valve body with its target mounted internally on the flapper. This transmits an electrical signal indicating when the flapper is open or closed. Available on Series 100 and 100R.

Spring is adjustable without shutting

APCO has manufactured Rubber Flapper Swing Check Valves (RFSCV) since 1965. We have many thousands of units in the field that have been operating successfully for decades. From time to time, engineers or end users have a difficult high head application where rapid flow reversal causes standard style Swing Check Valves to slam. The APCO 100SR was developed in 1978 to eliminate or minimize slam in these types of installations. The APCO 100SR has successfully managed surges (due to rapid flow reversal) even in tough vertical ‘flow up’ installations. See comparison graph on page 5.

The Standard Series-100 RFSCV has a 35º Disc Stroke and will close relatively quickly. This Stroke is very short compared to conventional Style Swing Check Valves which typically have 80º to 90º disc travel. When you add the spring return to the RFSCV it causes the disc to speed up or accelerate to valve closure. Having the Valve closed before reverse flow takes place can in many instances, drastically reduce or even eliminate valve slam.*

This graph compares the closing characteristics of the check valve with and without the spring assisted closure. The installation is vertical “flow up” and the power failure simulation for the test is identical. The pressure rise (blue line) generated from the valve closure without the spring assist is 120 psi. The pressure rise (black line) with the spring assisted closure is only 23 psi. This represents a 97 psi reduction in the pressure surge. Also, subsequent wave patterns are more subdued and rounded. On site closure noise (valve slam) and pipe displacement disappeared with the APCO 100SR.

The PDI is mounted to the cover and clearly identifies the position of the flapper.

SpecificationsSeries 100 Rubber Flapper Swing Check ValveThe Rubber Flapper Swing Check Valve shall have a heavily constructed cast or ductile iron body and cover. The body shall be long pattern design (not wafer) with integrally cast-on end flanges. The flapper shall be Buna-N having an O-ring seating edge and be internally reinforced with steel.

Flapper to be captured between the body and the body cover in a manner to permit the flapper to flex from closed to full open position. Flapper shall be easily removed without the need to remove the valve from line. Check Valves to have full pipe size flow area. Seating surface to be on a 45° angle requiring the flapper to travel only 35° from closed to full open position for minimum head loss, and non-slam closure characteristics.

Buna-N flapper which creates an elastic spring effect to assist the flapper to close against a slight head to prevent or minimize slamming.

Valve designed for 175 psi differential pressure for water, sewage, oil or gas (higher pressures available). The valve shall be suitable for buried service, in which case, stainless cover bolts must be furnished.

When necessary to prime or backflush a clogged pump, an external backflow device can be furnished— sizes 3" (80mm) and larger.

Series 100R Rubber Flapper Swing Check ValveThe Rubber Flapper Swing Check Valve shall have a heavily constructed ductile iron body and cover. The body shall be long pattern design (not wafer), with integrally cast-on end flanges. The flapper shall be Buna-N (or other elastomers) having an O-ring seating edge and be internally reinforced with steel.

The body and cover shall be lined with 1/8" (3mm) thick natural rubber. The lining shall be autoclaved to the body and cover and cured to 55 durometer shore A ± 5. the lining shall be tested in conformance with ASTM d573.

Flapper to be captured between the body and the body cover in a manner to permit the flapper to flex from closed to full open position during flow through the valve. Flapper shall be easily removed without need to remove valve from line. Check Valves to have full pipe size flow area. Seating surface to be on a 45° angle requiring the flapper to travel only 35° from closed to full open position.
