RCR Role

• Be the collegiate voice to the region and society as a whole• Member of the Region Council• Solicit three reports from collegiate sections• Member of Region Collegiate Team (RCT)

• Communicate with RCS, RMC and CLCC

• Facilitate Region Collegiate Meetings• At Regional and Societal Conference

• Must attend both conferences

• Work with RG and RCR/RCCE Coordinator/Coordinator-Elect to develop agenda

• RCR/RCCE Elections• Solicit qualified candidates• Provide information on role• Process will remain the same as FY11

• Regular communication with sections via section presidents• Bi-weekly emails, E-Blasts, Conference calls,

• Other roles dependent upon region and RG

Regions with 2 RCRs

• Each RCR will support at least 40% of the sections• Decide section assignments at CLF• Can be based on geography, section size, section

health, or other rational• One may be asked to prepare all e-Blasts• One may be asked to work with RMC and CLCC

to understand section or region trends• One may be asked to help the RCCE identify

sections doing article worthy activities• It is highly encouraged that you work

together as a team

RCCE Role

• Provide collegiate insights to the region leadership• Compose three reports per year• Member of the Region Collegiate Team (RCT)

• Will provide meeting minutes

• Region Blog• Work with RCR and RG to get at least 3 articles

from them a year• Work with sections to get at least 1 article a year• Monthly Hot Topic• Communicate with other RCCEs about article ideas• Ensure blog meets requirements provided

RCCE Role

• RCR/RCCE Elections• Solicit qualified candidates in the region• Provide information on the role• Use the blog to share election information• Post election videos on blog

• Assist in Facilitating Region Collegiate Meetings• At Regional and Societal Conference

• Must attend both conferences

• Work with RG and RCR to determine split of topics to be presented

• Other roles dependent on region

Region Council

• The RCR(s) is/are voting member(s) of the Region Council (the RCS is a nonvoting member)

• Attend all meetings – face to face and calls• Poll collegiate members on issues when

announced so you are prepared to represent their views (typically 30 days in advance of all votes)

• Don’t be afraid to speak up and represent the collegiate point of view

• Be respectful of others views

Reports to RG and Coordinators

• Deadline will be set by RCR/RCCE Coordinator w/ Director of Regions • 20 days before Director of Regions Report Due• Collegiate sections deadline is typically 10 days before

your deadline• Send reports to RCR/RCCE

Coordinator/Coordinator Elect and Governor• Template will be provided for RCR, RCCE, and

collegiate sections• Think about how to share best practices with

sections• Remember many things sections write in their

reports can make good articles, share with RCCE.

Reports to RG and Coordinators

• Suggested Topics to share with Section Presidents: • Membership – how to keep, attract and retain members• Fundraising – corporate and otherwise• Meeting Ideas• Career Guidance activities, Community Service activities• Leadership Development activities• How to promote/encourage girls to become an engineer• Girl Scout Day activities/how is it run• Social Ideas -- How do members relax together? Fun “mixer”

ideas• Officer Positions – Any unique ones? Especially helpful ones?

Provide Officer Descriptions.• Goal setting – What are the goals of the sections, each of the

officers?• Anything else that is in line with the SWE vision.

Region Collegiate Teams

• Rolled out in all Regions in FY09• Lt. Governor is leader of team (in most regions)

• RCCE will take notes for meetings• Goals:

• Get Region Collegiate Leadership talking about what’s happening in the sections

• Everyone has a piece, must share to get the full picture

• Utilize resources to develop plans to help struggling sections

• Get the right training and resources to all sections• Make proposals to the Region Council for other

programs at the Region Level that could help the collegiate experience.

Region Collegiate Blog

• Moved from newsletters to blogs in FY09• RCCE’s created a standardized blog template and help

document• Blogs contain the following:

• RG and RCR posts• Monthly hot topics• Pictures from region events• Section written articles• Calendar of events• Leadership resources

• Want to have monthly Hot Topics based on what’s relevant to collegiate members throughout the year• Attracting New Members• Fundraising• Professional Development, Outreach, Fundraising Ideas

Conferences

• RCRs and RCCEs need to attend both• Annual Conference in Chicago, IL(Oct 12-15)• Region Conference dates are being set now – ask

Governor• RCR is responsible for facilitating collegiate

meetings at both regional and societal conferences.

• RCCE & RCS should be involved in planning and presentation of both meetings

• Professionalism is key!

Conferences

• RCR/RCCE Coordinator will share key topics in presentation template prior to Annual Conference• Put your own region spin on these

presentations!• Consider how you want to present this

information – it’s ok to send it out before and have open forum or small group discussion. Many people cover the “boring” information on conference calls ahead of time to make the meeting more fun.

• Be prepared! But also be flexible to last minute changes/additions

• Contact region collegiate team, RG, and other special guests to give input and to review your presentations

RCR/RCCE Elections

• HQ owns this process• RCR/RCCE Coordinator Elect spearheads the

organization of the election process• RCR/RCCE/RCS assist in the process

• Send e-mails• Encourage future leaders• Contact applicants to discuss commitments and role• Answer RCR/RCCE/RCS election questions

Same Process as FY11:• Call for applications in December and

again after MLK Day• Applications due first Friday in February• 2-3 weeks to confirm eligibility of

candidates• Slate of candidates presented first

Monday in March• Voting open all month• Winners announced in April
