Cost of Attendance at Berklee College of Music for 2013-2014

The cost of attendance is comprised of charges billed directly to you by Berklee as well as indirect costs that go along with attending school. For students receiving financial aid, the total cost of attendance reflects the maximum amount you can receive in scholarships, grants, loans and work-study.

DEGREE DIPLOMA REQUIRED CHARGES

Tuition $36,514 $31,484

Fees $1,072 $1,072

OPTIONAL CHARGES

Room and Board $17,200 $17,200

Health Insurance $2,134 $2,134

Laptop $3,108 $3,108

INDIRECT COSTS

Books $474 $474

Transportation $968 $968

Personal Expenses $2,250 $2,250

Loan Fees $44 $44

Total $63,763 $58,734

(Cost of attendance for 2014-2015 will be available in January of 2014.) Required Charges Required charges include directly billed charges, which include tuition and fees. Optional Charges All students are billed for health insurance but it can be waived if a student is covered by another policy. Students are also billed for a laptop, but it too can be waived if a student already has laptop that meets our laptop specifications. Please note that if you are able to waive the laptop, you’ll still need to purchase a software bundle. Room and board is required for all entering students under 20 years of age, but can otherwise be waived; a second-year student under 20 years of age by the start of his/her 3rd semester or who turns 20 years of age during his/her second year in housing will be required to remain in on-campus housing. Compelling exceptions may be made and application deadlines apply. Indirect Costs Indirect costs are expenses related to going to school that will not appear on the student bill. We estimate an average of $2724 per year will be needed to cover the costs of books and personal expenses. We also include the cost of transportation and the cost of loan fees associated with borrowing Federal Stafford Loans. A travel allowance is also included in your cost of attendance. This travel allowance is another indirect cost that will not appear on your student bill. Students and families must arrange and pay for all travel to and from the college. t is important to remember that these indirect costs will not appear on the college bill. Students should plan to arrive on campus with sufficient funds to cover the costs of books and incidental expenses.
