A Message from the Dean, Trish Reger
Spring is finally here - this is an exciting time for the College of Health and Social Sciences, with prospective students and their families visiting campus, final examinations, student advising for fall registration, and commencement in May. This is also the symposia season where students and faculty are presenting their research along with community project achievements. Many of our students are also being recognized for their academic achievements. As Dean, I am grateful for the dedication and mentorship of our faculty and staff and equally proud of the commitment of our students. Thus, it is with great pleasure that I share with you a snap shot of the great works of our faculty, staff and students. Enjoy!
Victoria Volk posted to her Facebook timeline,
“[G]ive me a few years and I’ll have an office in
this building…” During this past semester,
Victoria interned with a local state senator in his
King of Prussia office, where she has completed
what she describes as her most notable work of
her academic career. She writes, “On a daily
basis, I work diligently with the constituents,
research upcoming bills and help plan events
within the community.” From organizing a mock
senate session for high school students to
outreach at senior centers to creating a list of
potential employers for the senator’s website,
her work enabled her to gain a wide variety of
experiences while serving the constituents by
providing information on legislation and
government services. Victoria explains, “Having
a hands-on experience like this allows for a true
understanding of not only how the Senate
operates, but I also learned to listen to the wants
of the constituents as well as the needs of local
nonprofit organizations.”
We applaud a job well done, Victoria!
On April 24, 2019 the seniors of the Psychology Department presented their
thesis projects to a standing-room-only crowd in the Baird Library.
