Achievements:
1. Accreditation for conducting CME activities by Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (2014)
(The Statutory Regulatory & registration authority for Medical, Dental and Practitioners for
Pakistan)
2. Accreditation of the MRCGP Int. Examination Revision Course by MRCGP Int. South East Asia
Board.(2016)
3. Trained >1104 family physicians in accredited CME & training programs of the College.
New Initiatives by the College of Family Medicine Pakistan
1. Launched the Online CPD/ CME certificate Courses for family physicians. 2015
2. Launched a training on “Rational use of antibiotics” in 2015
3. Edu-Derm: Short course in dermatology launched in 2016.
4. Certificate Course for Diabetes Education: Launched online and in-campus April 15th 2016.
5. Institutional Review Board (CFMP-IRB) and Research Cell activities initiated in July 2016.
6. Launched the “Heroes in Family Medicine” initiative to pay tribute to family physicians working
in underprivileged areas.
7. A short documentary on College of Family Medicine Pakistan & its role through decades.

ii. IFID (International Forum on Infectious Diseases) 2016 at Dubai,
iii. IUM 2016 at Colombo Sri-Lanka,
iv. IGHF (International Gastroenterology and Hepatology Forum ) 2016 at Nairobi Kenya
International Conferences held in Pakistan:
v. Pak China MEDCONG International Conference organized by Pakistan Medical Association in
Collaboration with Chinese Medical Association. 8-10th Jan 2016 at Marriott Hotel Karachi.
College hosted a separate session on Family medicine which included paper presentations by Dr.
Waris Qidwai, Dr. Samina Shah, Dr. Shehla Naseem, Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Shoro and Dr. Marie
Andrades. Chief Guest Prof. Riaz Qureshi, Prof. Naseer Baluch and Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Shoro
chaired the session.
vi. International Diabetes & Endocrinology Congress IDEC, 19th -21st August 2016 organized by
BIDE & Pakistan Diabetes Association. College of Family Medicine Pakistan was one of the
supporting bodies in the congress. Dr. Shehla Naseem presented the first research paper from
College of Family Medicine Pakistan, titled: “Perceptions of family physicians for diabetes

management in Ramadan.” The paper got the best paper presented award in the free paper
session and the paper was highly appreciated as it represented data from General practitioners
working all over the country.

Supporting the MCPS Family Medicine & MRCGP Int. exam in Pakistan:
College of Family Medicine Pakistan provided logistics and visa support to 166 candidates
appearing in the MRCGP exams in 2014-2016
College provided workshops for preparation of MCPS Family Medicine Exam.
Conducted OSCE workshops.

College of Family Medicine Pakistan: Activities Report 2014-2016:
Support of Family Physicians Causes and Issues:
1. Participated in protest against doctors killings, raised awareness by newspaper articles and had
several meetings with law enforcing agencies to rectify the situation.
2. Raising awareness for Family physicians Rights with the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council
(PMDC) by letters and articles in the press.
3. Synergistic support in collaboration with other family medicine groups for raising voice for
undergraduate family medicine faculty development in Pakistan.
