HONORS
Since 1886, only 7% of UK’s honorary degrees have been awarded to women.
7% of the newly created RCTF endowed chairs (3) and 12% of the RCTF professorships (10) are named for women (N=3).
Only 8 of the newly hung banners honor women’s accomplishments.
Since 1967, only 3 women have won the Sturgill Award for outstanding contributions to graduate education.
The President’s Commission on Women 2001
Advise the President on issues, policies and practices that affect women at the University of Kentucky;
Report regularly to the President and the University community on the status of women at UK;
Offer recommendations to redress all forms of gender-related inequities; and
Propose initiatives to ensure that the University of Kentucky fully engages the talents of its women employees and fairly meets the needs of its women students.
