PSEOP=Post Secondary Enrollment Options Program DE= Dual Enrollment “CCP” refers to college courses taught either on the IHE or FFHS campus. I will still refer to local courses as DE because that is what we are used to hearing and means college credit courses taught on our campus by our teachers but students still receive both HS and college credit. You’ll still see this referenced in the Course Registration Booklet and on the scheduling cards. FYI, scheduling started a couple weeks ago. I’ve frequented the study hall room to meet with students the past 2 weeks. Students without a study hall can get a pass from a teacher to come see me. I’ll chase down the students who don’t meet with me. PSEOP used to be for grades 9-12 now open to grades 7-8. IHE set own entrance requirements. Students MUST reapply with each IHE under new rules for CCP. Notes preloaded on slide: Ohio’s new College Credit Plus can help students earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking college courses from community colleges or universities. The purpose of this program is to promote rigorous academic pursuits and to provide a wide variety of options to college-ready students. Taking a college course from a public college or university College Credit Plus is free. That means no cost for tuition, books or fees. If you choose to attend a private college or university, you may have limited costs.

No GPA set by ODE/OHED (formerly OBR), however, IHE may set criteria involving GPA. IHE entrance requirements must be the same for native and CCP students.

PSEOP funding allowed for credits earned via PSEOP or HS to not go over what credits are offered by the home school. Max hours between HS and IHE is 30 semester hours. 1 HS credit = 3 semester hours Impact…There will likely be no more double associates degrees unless you pay your own $ after 30 hrs.

What’s your “5 Year Plan”? Where are you going? What are you doing after HS? Always look up information with the IHEs where you will be attending later and make sure to take the needed pre-requisites, now. For example, I spent 2 years @ WVU-P but dialogued with Marietta College to make sure I was on track for my major and all my credits transferred. Not all credits are =. Watch for TAG (Transfer Assurance Guide) and OTM (Ohio Transfer Module). For example Comp 1 often equals Comp 1 but Principles of Chemistry is not = to General Chemistry. I learned this when I had to do Chemistry again when going from WVU-P to MC. Check out Ohio.gov and Ohiohighered.org for TAG/OTM conversions. https://transfercredit.ohio.gov/ap/20?0::NO:20:: https://www.ohiohighered.org/transfer/reportingsystem

The conversion used to be 5 sem hrs = 1 Carnegie Unit = 1 HS Credit for ODE. The new rule states 1 HS credit = 3 semester hours SB currently being proposed is to change the conversion to 1 HS credit = 4 semester hours OHSAA rules still require successful attempt at 5 credits and FFHS adds in the 2.0

Option A---You pay; credit NOT disclosed to HS (could petition HS later to accept if you did well); still permanent grade at IHE that must be reported to future IHEs Option B---State of Ohio pays; credit automatically disclosed to HS and a permanent grade on the HS transcript; IHE consumes fees and HS pays for books (new book lending rules to be determined; no change for CCP on our campus but those taken fully @ IHE) EEP (Early Enrollment Program)---NOT CCP but local IHEs use funds to support HS students attending college; may need to pay for books; EEP offered year round and WSCC will use when students have not proven college readiness or need credit recovery (1 course per semester)

If a parking pass is needed to drive/park on campus then it is the student’s responsibility. Under PSEOP, upon request, transportation costs for those economically disadvantaged used to be coordinated with the local treasurer, however, under CCP, this is NOT covered; transportation costs are the responsibility of the student and his/her family

FFHS requires reimbursement for F or W for course final grades. Watch for IHE deadlines for penalty free withdrawal. Most IHEs require a school counselor signature to drop courses because we need to check graduation requirements. Notes preloaded on slide:

Classes failed or withdrawn with an “F” will receive an “F” on the high school and college transcripts and will be computed into the high school and college GPA. If you do not receive a passing grade, the district may, in some instances, seek reimbursement for the amount of state funds paid to the college on your behalf for that college course. The school district may withhold grades and credits received for high school courses taken until reimbursement has been made.

Not applicable for FFHS; no weighted grades However, other schools may weight AP courses. This means they should also be weighting all CCP courses.

All grades are permanent. FFHS permits grade replacement for a C or lower. IHEs set own rules for transcript consequences regarding repeated courses. A repeated course still counts against your 30 hours per year. It would be just like taking another course.

reaction to FAFSA being prior-prior year and open in October 2016 (used to be March 31)

If you plan to go part-time on IHE campus, FFHS Master Schedule takes precedence over IHE schedules. This means if you miss a FFHS CCP course then you will be marked absent. Do NOT double book courses. Both WSCC staff and I review student schedules but students sometimes try to underestimate the drive time. If you are missing class due to school activities IHE rules may be different than FFHS rules. Make sure to talk with all teachers/professors.

Thank you for coming. Please make sure you signed in to prove your attendance and fill out and sign the “FFHS letter of intent” (due April 1). If you are still interested but undecided, fill out the paperwork anyway and let me know later that you do NOT want to participate. If you are taking courses @ WSCC on their campus, you will need to schedule with Heather Saling. Call/email now to make an appointment. I’m sure her schedule is filling up!
