Architecture as the possibility to as surroundingconditions such as, environmental, neighborhood, andculture that occur around a building. This changecan come from the change of the of thebuilding or from designed building systems. In the constantly evolving world the architect mustrespond with the creation of green systems and adaptivereuse of buildings.

We were asked to createa structure by folding a pieceof paper, being permitted to cut thepaper, however no adhesivescould be used. The site is in a relatively open area where windrolls across the site from dierentdirections depending on the timeof day. My design is made with panelsthat form seating areas and providesa covered amphitheater dug into theground. These panels also move withthe wind. If the there is strong windSeating area evolves into a new formthat provides shelter to the studentsoccupying the structure.

2nd Year
Hocking Hills, OHAdaptation The Music House was designed asa vacation home for a musician
that wanted to escape the city to compose in quiet. Thehouse is designed into twostructures, the box andthe blob. Each of these servea purpose for the musician. The box is used for recordingsince at walls allow for a morecontrolled recording environmentalong with the large windowsthat bring light and nature intothe building. The blob serves twofunctions. First, it operates as a listening room for the musician usingthe curved walls to reect sound sothat they are able to hear the full eectof the music. It then caninto the living area where the bed, tables, and chairs fold out of the oor, much likethe suitcase house.

Weinland Park
3rd Year
Columbus, OHAdaptation
Weinland Park is located in a povertystricken area of Columbus in whichmedical care is dicult to nd. Ourtask for the project was to createa pre-natal care clinic that wouldalso help with another aspectof child raising. In mydesign, in addition to theclinic I added a gardenand teachingcenter so thatwhen a childis born the parentshave the knowledge andmeans of getting fresh fruits and vegtables. The garden area of the project is made of a woodgrid where the spaces within can be occupied by wood boardsfor walking, plants, or grass. These spaces change through out the timeof year based on weather conditions and need by the community. By doing this, the path to the building and the visual sight is constantly changing, stimulatingthe visitors. Along with the grid of planters the building is made from reclaimed woodin the neighborhood, collects rainwater, and had a greeen roof made from the planters. These aspects allow the building to stay more cost eective and green.

Sullivant Hall is located at a keyjuncture on the Ohio State campus. On one side is the city of Columbusand on the other side is the campus. Before the renovation, the buildinglacked an identity on this key partof campus. My addition acts as a wayto create a entrance forboth the city and the campus. Furthermore each entrance directs the visitorto a certain program, since the buildingwill be used for three main programs. The entrance to the theater follows inthe style of classic museums, theaters, and libraries in which they are raised above ground level to signify theirimportance when compared tosurrounding buildings.

SWACO LandllAdaptationTransparency
For this project we wereasked to create a museum
for a landll around Columbus. The landll is a constantly
changing object, the work facemoves throughout the day.So, creating a building that
could change with the landllbecame the goal of my design
For this I began by observingthat the crawler in Star Warsopperated in a similar style.
From there I researchedship structure and decided to
make the project about theexperience of visiting the
landll. Visitor arive at astationary welcome center
and then are transported by bus to the the museum in the
vehicle. Here the facade is constantly changing by catching
trash that is blown o the landll. This means the view
to the landll is constantly changing.

Whole Foods is a grocery store chain that puts emphisis on organic, farm grown products. My design brings green area that can be usedfor gardening, park space, or for a farmers market into the middle ofa large city. This means that the visual site of the building changesthrough the seasons. The visual sight of the building also changes as avisitor walks from one layer to another where each row of windows shows a dierent aspect of the workings of the Whole Foods market.

This installation was createdafter a study we conducted ona dance performance wherethere was no set choreography, the dancers instead wouldreact to what the moves thatthe other dancers would makeup follows this idea of actingbased on cues. It adaptsto its surroundings andbased on where theow of trac is, theinstallation lowers tubing to formwalls that indicate aroute of travel androoms in areas wherethere is little activity. If the ow of tracchanges due to a changein surroundings then theinstallation also changes tomatch the new ow of trac.

The Eames worked in a widevariety of areas, which includedarchitecture, photography, lm,and furniture. In this projectwe were asked to created a museum for their singlechair design. With the museumI wanted it to be more thenjust a space to exhibita chair. It should be anexperience in which the visitoris introduced to the Eames videosand photography as well as thechair. To create this experiencethe museum consists over severalscreens that raise and lowerthrough out the daythe interior and what can be viewedat certain times. Since these are screens, there is ato them that changes the viewsof the exhibits through the day.

While working with hot gunglue sticks on a project I noticedthat they are opaque when lighthas not been introduced however, when they are exposed to lightit becomes translucent. Fromthis operservation I decided tomake a lamp out of a wall ofcut glue sticks. The ungulatingsurface causes that light thatto be darker and lighter at partscreating a stunning visual eect.

Hendrix Sports Complex
Kirchner Architecture
Conway, ARProfessional
Hendrix College is in the prossesof expanding its athletic departmentby adding a football program. To do thisI was asked to design a sports complexthat contained home and away locker rooms, support facilities for the football program anda gym and locker room for students that wantedto used the tennis courts that would be part ofthe facility. To accomplish this I designed andprogram a three building complex whereeach of the buildings houses one of the mainprograms. The exterior design came from a previously completed Kirchner Architecture project. It was chosen for its cost ecient materials.

Hendrix Bridge
Kirchner Architecture
Conway, ARProfessional
Hendrix College in Conway, AR approachedKirchner Architecture to remodel an excisting bridge on campus that spans the major streetwhich runs right next to campus. I was asked toexplore two dierent options for the bridge. The rst option is to use an excisiting bridge andmove to the site. For the second option I was askedto create a bridge design that mimiced a bridgelocated on the Vanderbilt University campus. Whendesigning the bridge I incorporated the excistingbridge structure to minimize costs. Anotherchallenge when designing the bridge was thedierence in campus styles. Vanderbilt is located in the center of a major city where asHendrix is a small campus in a small city. These bridges were modeled in RevitArchitecture for the rendering and drawing capabilities.
