8
What Is Different?
Not Much Has Changed–No new codes added –No codes obsoleted –Mostly notes and explanations
added
9
What is Different?
Version 02.04• Conversion Program run
on data • Manual Review Required
for a few items• Multiple distribution
methods of Coding Instructions
• Robust SSFs collection ability and support
Version 02.05• No traditional conversion
program to run on data• 50% reduction in items
for manual review• Standardization of Coding
Instructions• Identified and formalized
list of Non-Required SSFs
10
NON-REQUIRED SITE SPECIFIC FACTORS
11
Improving CS for the Registrars
Registrars spoke, CS listened– CAnswer Forum and Reliability Study– Heard CS users overwhelmed with number of fields– CS structure allows collection of every SSF – Some SSFs were for 7th Edition Cancer Staging Manual
and not involved in calculation of CS– Confusing for registrars on fields that need to be
collected
12
Enhancement for CS 02.05
1. CS identified and formalized list of Non-Required SSFs– SSFs that have never been required by any Standard
Setter2. Created Database for vendors
– Standard Setter SSF collection requirements 3. Vendors able to provide simplified display
– Reduce the burden of Collaborative Stage data collection on cancer registrars
4. Sunset of support for Non-Required SSF13
Non-Required SSFs in 02.05
• Full details will be announced in coming days
• Will NOT affect existing data
• Facilities can still collect Non-Required SSFs in CS 02.05 DLL structures
• All SSFs will remain in the DLL and in NAACCR record
14
Criteria for Non-Required SSFs
SSFs that are not included in the Calculation of Stage
AND
That are not required by any of the Standard Setters
15
Maintenance of Non-Required SSFS
1. CS will sunset support and maintenance of Non-Required SSFs– CAnswer Forum– Mapping Team
2. Coding Instructions Non-Required SSFs – Resource Archive
16
Benefits of Enhancement
• Less fields on screen • More streamlined workflow• Less burden on registrar training• Easier Quality Assurance• Easier Consolidation of cases
17
Implementation CS 02.05
1. Facilities must determine their data needs
2. Facilities must communicate with vendors
3. Use the resources provide on CS website
