Room Selection Criteria
Item Requirement Considerations
Room Size 20‟ x 21‟ minimum Accommodates Mediascape Table and (3x) café tables
“Fireplace Wall”& Pedestal
On-site fabrication of TP support wall Built at 45 degrees to two adjoining existing walls. Supports and elevates the TP system to the desired height
Exterior Windows
As few as possible Exterior windows must be treated with light-blocking materials to prevent outside light from entering room
Ceiling Suspended @ 9‟ – 10‟ high Required for proper acoustics and to support recessed lighting fixture
Ceiling lower than 9‟ AFF will reduce size of ceiling LCD projector image
Lighting Recessed fluorescent fixtures with 4100k lamps
No motion-sensing light controls. 4100k color temperature lamps are required for proper TP color balance
Electrical (4x) additional dedicated 120v, 20-amp circuits
Circuits are in addition to existing circuits and are used to power the TP system, Smartboard, LCD projector and Mediscape Table
HVAC Ability to support additional heat generated by TP system, Projectors and Participants
Typical heat dissipation – 2.77 kW / 9,655 BTU/hour
Floor Composition
Ability to install raised floor or accessible via core-drilling to distribute cabling
Raised floor or a floor that can be core drilled allows for easy distribution of cables and wires. Otherwise on-floor cable management systems will need to be used.
Floor Covering Low pile, static-resistant carpet Required for proper acoustics

DESIGN DETAIL – “FIREPLACE WALL” support for CTS-1300
Note:CTS 1300 footprint is 7” deep.
12 inches of setback should remain between
the front edge of the pedestal and the front of
the CTS 1300.
This setback should be maintained to protect
the CTS 1300 plasma screen from damage
caused by stools being positioned too close to
the CTS 1300 system.
Front of pedestal top support is fabricated to be
removable to allow access to pedestal base for
electrical and signal cable installation.

GE VCS Lighting & Acoustic Requirements
Fluorescent Lighting Requirements
Recommend direct/Indirect fluorescent fixtures with 4000-4100 Kelvin color temperature lamps
Light range should be between 300 – 400 lux
Electronic ballast highly recommended
If exterior windows in room, install shades to block outside light reduce glare and shadowing
Acoustic Requirements
Room should not be directly below roof-mounted air handling systems
Rooms with excessive noise (greater than 55dBA) should be remediated for participant comfort.
Large rooms, high ceilings or rooms having excessive glass may experience reverberation. This should be reduced where possible (below 700ms across voice Hz)
In some situations, room reverberation may be excessive and acoustic treatments will be required to effectively dampen echo. Consult the GE VCS Team.
Recommended Acoustic Panels:
Armstrong Soundsoak Carrara 60 Panels / Color = Carrara Beeswax -
