Modified flex schedule
• Two flex days
• Three days with scheduled classes
Each class comes to library three times every four weeks

From idea to collaboration
• Called on expert for help
• Planning session
• SMART board incorporated from outset
• Each developed own lesson plans
Making it work
• Separate lesson plans – common goal
• No formal, ongoing coordination needed
• Touched base when class was being dropped off and picked up at the library
The lesson plans
• Library lessons – “Passport”
Assessment was designed to develop critical reading skills
• Classroom lessons – incorporated into regular reading curriculum
Wrapping it up
Idea for culminating activity evolved over the course of the collaboration
• Started with goal of using Smart board
• Added quiz game buzzers
• Two other games
