Objectives of collaborative efforts between IWK and UiTM in general and IWTC and FCE UiTM in particular are:

Developing applied and fundamental research proposals on topics of interest to both parties forsubmission to prospective funding agencies

Mentoring interested IWK employees in undertaking funded or unfunded research projects leading tohigher research degrees at UiTM

Revisiting identified taught master's programs offered at FCE UiTM and the suite of in-house trainingmodules run by IWTC for IWK employees for mapping of course / module outcomes for possibletransfer of credits subject to the approval of the Senate of UiTM and MQA

Upgrading IWTC in-house training modules to take financial advantage of credit transfer provisions inthe MQF

Repackaging revisited FCE UiTM taught master's programs to facilitate delivering of course materials instructured modules for IWK employees and those of IWK stakeholders' leading to taught master'sdegrees

Working out with the HRDF under the Financial Assistance for Employee Development Program withclaimable full tuition fees for taught or research programs leading to higher degrees

Why the Programme is relevant?

It is an opportunity for the working personnel in water sectors to pursue theirpassion to further study and expand their knowledge in water resources andenvironmental areas. The master executive mode will be an avenue to everyonewho aspires to climb up the career path to a higher degree.

Master of Science in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering is a masterdegree programme designed based on the needs of the industries and public orprivate agencies. To date, graduates who worked far from university barely ableto continue their education at the Masters level because of the constraints of theworkplace.

Who should participate in the Programme ?

PROPOSED ROUTE TO MASTER OF SCIENCE IN WATER RESOURCES AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING

APEL (C)

APEL (C ) is the award of credits for the priorexperiential learning towards a course in anaccredited programme offered in an Institute ofHigher Learning (IHL).

Award of credit is specific and relevant to a course(s)offered in the IHL programme.

Credit transfer is awarded based on informal andnon-formal learning.

Award of credits

• Through credit transfer (not credit exemption)

• Does not involve transfer of grades.

• Credit transfer counts towards the total creditrequirement for graduation.

• Maximum % of credit transfer through APEL(C) is 30% of total graduating credits of aspecific programme of study.

• In addition to 30% credit transfer based onexisting formal credit transfer policy
