A SPECTRUM OF PARTNER INTEGRATION

• Integration

COLOCATION

• In many schools, partners are merely collocated within the school

• They develop individual relationships with the school community, but have little sense of their interconnection within the school ecosystem.

• This can lead to redundancy of services and an efficient use of resources

• With co-location, “more” doesn’t necessarily translate to “more powerful”

COLLABORATION

• When partners collaborate, they begin to work together to achieve a targeted goal

• For example, when multiple partners assist a school with planning and hosting a freshman orientation, this is an example of collaboration

• Collaboration is usually very project focused and has a specific, finite goal

INTEGRATION

• When partners are integrated, they adopt a common mission and understand their complementary roles in fulfilling the mission

• Structures and strategies are developed to sustain continuous collaboration and seamless communication and decision making

• Integration is more open-ended than collaboration and impacts overall culture and climate more than collaboration
