Who are we? Hello dear teachers and students from India!

(O.P. Jindal School Raigarh) We are the IED. Jose Maria Carbonell School

students and teachers. We are a public school located in Bogota

Colombia

Where are we? The IED Jose Maria Carbonell School is located in

the Carrera 4 # 0-43, Fourth Zone of Bogota Colombia which is called San Cristobal, in Las Brisasneighborhood.

Our History Jose Maria Carbonell was born in 1778-1816. He

was a very important character in the history of our country specially in Bogota.

He lived near to this school. For this reason itsname.

Jose Maria Carbonell had brilliant ideas related tothe people’s liberty and participation in thegoverment. Lamentably he was killed because of histhought. However he lives in the spirit of our school.

Language and economical activities

We speak Spanish in Colombia. However we have approximatelysixty five indigenous languagesspoken by diverse ethnic groups.

We use pesos colombianos in order to developdifferent economicalactivities.

Our school and students

The students and their families belong to social strata 1 and 2 and live in neighborhoods such as Las Cruces, Argentina, Girardot, and others, which are located near the school. The school offers grades from preschool to eleventh grade with a commercial emphasis. The student’s schedule for the elementary school is from 6:30 A.M. to 11: 30 A.M. and the English class has an allocation of two hours a week.

For the higher students this schedule is from 12:00M to 6:00 P.M.

Our vision and mission

Regarding the vision and

mission, the school aims at

training students who may

be linked to field work in

relation to commercial

subjects and at the same

time, improve their living

conditions in the social,

personal and family fields.

Our school has an agreement with el SENA

(Servivio Nacional de Aprendizaje) through

two structures: Technical work in the analysis

and production of the administrative

information and Technical work in the

development of logistics chains in

procurement processes. The recognition

obtained through this agreement is that we

are a Commercial high school.

Additionally our students

develop their internships in

the San Blas Hospital.

They have different

responsibilities such as:

file management and

attention to the clients.
