Since its early days on a small beach in SanFrancisco, to the city of 25,000+ that it has becometoday, Burning Man has been close to the hearts of
San Franciscans. Every year thousands of people inthe Bay Area migrate to the Black Rock Desert tocreate thethird-largest city inNevada forone week.
The key to enjoying Burning Man is beingprepared for the intense environmental conditionsyou will face there. From the 107° weather to thefast-and-furious sand storms, the Black Rock Desert
is an unforgiving place that cansend the unpreparedhome early.
Cole Hardware has all of your Burning Man andplayaneeds. If you aren’t sure howa device or rig oreven a kitchen sink may work on the playa, come in
and ask. We’ll help you get the right tool or part for

What you will need:
• 3 20-foot lengths of 2” PVC pipe• 6 2-foot lengths of #4 rebar
• opaque plastic sheeting• cable ties• hammer
• crowbar
A time-honored Burning Man tradition, this quick and easy shelter is inexpensive and highly resilient.
Start by pounding 2 of thelengths of rebar 1’ into theground 8’-10’ apart.
Insert one end of a PVCpipe length over one pieceof rebar, and curve it overand insert the other endover the other piece of rebar
Repeat steps one and two,placing the ends of the PVCpipe every 60° around in acircle. Secure the PVC atthe apex of the dome with
cable ties.

Cover the frame with white,opaque plastic sheeting,securing the sheeting tothe frame with cable ties.Leave an opening wherethe plastic meets.

When you leave, use the crowbar to remove therebar from the ground (a 2’ length of galvanized
pipe works as well).
Remember that Burning Man is a ‘Leave no trace’ event, so be sure to leave the playa exactly as you
found it.
