• Joined together with the Soviet Union.

• So that they were in striking distance of the US.

• Castro has influenced many world leaders of today.

• Was a US spy plane.
• Created during the Cuban missile crisis.
• Used to spy on Soviet’s who were putting nuclear missiles on Cuba.
• A U2 was shot down, this increased tensions between US and Cuba.

• The U2 can fly at an altitude of 70,000 feet.
• There were only 86 ever made.
• It escalated tensions in the US and almost lead to a US invasion of Cuba.

• Was the 35 president of the United States.
• Kennedy ran against Richard Nixon in the 1960 elections for the democratic party.
• Kennedy during his nomination speech set forward his ideas of a new Frontier.
• His speeches are still quoted today and are very inspiring to many young people.

• He led America into the space race and set goals for the US that later became reality such as the Moon Landing.
• Served in the military as a commander of the Motor Torpedo Boats PT-109 and PT-59 during WWII.
• He was an important figure for the United States in the beginning of the cold war.

• It was an invasion of Cuba by the US.
• The US didn't directly invade Cuba, they funded a paramilitary group which intended to overthrow the Cuban government.
• The CIA funded the paramilitary group.
• It was the beginning of the Cuban Missile Crisis which was a major part of the Cold War.

• The US successfully launched astronauts to the moon.
• It marked a turning point in the Space Race between the US and Soviet Union.
• America had won the race and met the goal of JFK to land a man on the moon.
• It has led to many inventions and improvements not only in the space programs but in civilian life also.
