The Colby Community Col-
lege Equestrian Team was
named the 2016 Junior Col-
lege Equestrian Champion-
ships (JCEC) Champion
Team at the April competi-
tion hosted by West Texas
A&M. CCC was also named
the Champion Team at the
2015 inaugural competition.
The invitational competition
hosts two-year colleges from
across the country. Point
riders from CCC competed in
IHSA division for the com-
petition. Representing CCC
were Jade Kruse in Open
Reining and Horsemanship,
Cheyanne Becker in Ad-
vanced Horsemanship, Ally-
son Dorrell in Novice Horse-
manship, Mikaela Brackney
in Intermediate Horseman-
ship, and
Brianna
Reeves
in Begin-
ner
Horse-
manship.
We were thrilled with the
results of this competition
and are looking forward to
defending our title again in
2017!

In her Equine Manage-ment Technology IV course, Mattix uses CHA manuals, including CHA Standards for Equestrian Programs, CHA Composite Horsemanship Manual, and the CHA Riding Instructor and Trail Guide Manual. Upon completion of the course, Bandy, Zenger, Simpson, Dorrell and Han-sen traveled to Cheyenne, Wyo., for the CHA Certi-
