New Generation Collagen: Aquatic Source

The collagen is mainly produced from bovine, pig and avian based resources globally.

However, the wide range acceptability and usage of these sources is restricted because of

concern of immunogenicity, disease transmission and religious barrier.

Aquatic origin is found to be an alternate source of collagen worldwide as it delivers a wide

range of benefits like superior absorption, better bioavailability, and minimum chance of disease

transmission through protein impurities.

Among the aquatic sources, marine and freshwater fish sources are now emerging and

replacing bovine, pig and avian resources.

To meet the ongoing demands for safer, ethical and more environmentally friendly

alternate source of collagen, AMNIVOR Medicare is using freshwater fish as a novel source for

manufacturing Type I collagen (AMNICOL). This freshwater fish collagen has low molecular

weight and is natural, pure, colourless, highly stable with intact collagen fibrillar structure and safe

(insignificant immunogenicity). It is produced in an ethical and environmentally-sustainable

manner, widely accepted across the cultures and religions (Halal certification is not essential) and

suitable for most demanding applications.

Unique advantages of AMNICOL

DENATURATION TEMPERATURE (Td)

The denaturation temperature (Td) of collagen from marine source is low (edible jellyfish collagen

~ 26 °C; starfish collagen ~ 24.7 C). This is because of the lower hydroxyproline content of these

sources which is manifested by their habitat and body temperature. However, the denaturation

temperature (Td) of AMNICOL is high (~36 °C) and similar to mammalian originated collagen.

COMPATIBILITY

Marine collagen has superior absorption and bioavailability compared to bovine- or porcine-

sourced collagen. However, the sources are adapted to fresh water resulting in collagen that is

quite different from that found in terrestrial species.

AMNICOL more closely resembles the amino acid profile of human skin compared to marine

sources and therefore, most of the delivered amino acids are viable, reaches to cells and can be

metabolized through various anabolic processes.

HIGHER PURITY

Marine collagen can be contaminated with heavy metals and other contaminants. However, the

source of AMNICOL is freshwater fish and hence it is free from heavy metals, fat or turbid matter,

carbs, sugar, and cholesterol

LESS ODOR AND TASTE

Marine collagen contains higher levels of sodium, which influences its taste. Freshwater fish

originated AMNICOL is naturally low in sodium and therefore, tasteless. The odor of AMNICOL is

less as compared to collagen from marine source

EFFICIENCY

AMNICOL contains amino acid profile similar to animal sourced collagen and therefore beneficial

for management of wound environment
