Coordinate Geometry (COGO)SurvCADD's four main COGO routines be-low can be used to reduce any field surveydata, input deeds, check surveys, calc. lots, and do a myriad of survey tasks.

Survey data is entered as: Bearing quad-rants, azimuths, angles right & left or de-flection angles right & left (from abacksight) and angles defined by pointnumbers. Distances are entered as slopedistances, horizontal distances or by pointnumbers. To reduce elevations vertical &zenith angles or change in elevation in-cluding HI and ROD heights may be entered.

Points are screen plotted as you traverseor enter sideshots. Inverse, traverse andsideshot data are reported as bearings or azi-muths, horiz. distances and coord's. Manually entered field data using inverse, traverse and sideshot routines can be toggledON to store to a file for review, editing andreprocessing. Traverse and sideshot dataare entered/reduced together. When inversing from point to point newlocations are entered as point numbers orscreen picked. The current occupied pointand backsight point numbers are displayedcontinuously on AutoCAD's side-bar. Scaled printer plotting coordinate pointsto laser or dot matrix printer, directly from fileand independent of AutoCAD. Toggle Lines ON/OFF when traversing. Locate by Bearing-Ang & Intersect com-mands, screen traverse and create points byBB, BD & DD intersect routines.

Convert Entities to Points - Selected lines, arcs, polylines and 3D polylines are storedas SurvCADD point numbers and/or a coor-dinate file (P,N,E,Z). Points are created onall endpoints and radius points on selectedentities. Station Polyline - Station polylines at anyinterval for index and intermediate tick marks.Station labels plotted perpendicular or par-allel. PC & PT station & line plotting. Createoffset points at even and odd stations along

Special COGO routines Numeric Pad COGO (CC) - Cogo routinetraverse or compute, BB, BD or DD inter-sect, with all entry possible directly fromnumeric keypad. Plot Deed Description (PDD) - Enter deedsdrawing lines/arcs with annotation and pointnumbers. Displays closure results, area andperimeter output to screen, printer or file. Legal Description - Writes a complete le-gal description for any lot defined as apolyline. centerline at constant left, center and rightdistances. Station and offset data saved au-tomatically to each point's description forstakeout and road layout. Offset Point Entry - Create individual off-set points at any station (odd or even), at aleft, center or right offset distance. Calculate Offsets - Select a polyline or analignment file and from a range of pointsnumbers or selected points, report their sta-tion and offset. Station and offset data canbe stored to point descriptions and ap-pended to existing descriptions.

Data CollectionData Collection is found in the Misc Menuin the Cogo Design Module. SurvCADDdownloads and uploads from these popularbrands of data collectors:TDS HP48/90/100/200 & Huskey, SMI,Sokkia SDR 2X & 33 standard and expert,Lieca GRE3/4, Lieca GIF 10, Pentax SC5 &SC200, Topcon FC48 & FC1/4/5 and Trans-port, Zeiss Rec 500 and Corvallis CMT.

Field to Finish - SurvCADD's Field Coding SystemField data is collected by the Survey Data Management System (SDMS) format, defined byAASHTO. (See "Connectivity of Survey Points with SDMS" in the surveying trade magazinePOB April/May 1995 issue, page 62.) SurvCADD implements the SDMS method or what werefer to as the "Figure Number Method", in the AutoCAD environment. Data can be collectedin any order left to right, right to left, randomly and over several days. If alpha or numericdescriptions are entered using SurvCADD's Field to Finish coding method, survey data at theoffice is read directly into AutoCAD and drawn layerized as lines and arcs, smooth edges, breaklines and corner symbols with descriptions. This method of field collection organizes the fieldoperation and tremendously increases productivity in the office.

Edit-Process Raw Data File Field data may be reviewed and editedprior to computing survey adjustments inEdit-Process Raw Data File command. Survey adjustments include Angle Bal-ance, A djust Elevations, Compass,

Codes listed alphabetically from Coordinate file.

Field to Finish SurvCADD's Field to Finish software willpre-connect similar codes as break lines, building lines, fences, rock walls or anytype of line. Field to Finish will place corner symbols, open circles, utility poles, fire hydrants,trees... by point description. All features drawn are layerized with op-tional descriptions in AutoCAD. Option to analyze codes by sorting codesalphabetically with full description andrange of points sharing each code. Additional text can be appended to anycode description by typing a forward slash"/" after the code (e.g. MH/PSE&G #492). Data with more than one code are plottedin separate layers defined by each code.

Downloading and uploading are accom-plished without leaving AutoCAD. Downloading includes the coordinate file, raw survey field data or both. Raw survey data from the field is down-loaded to a backup and formatted for Edit-Process RAW field data, our field editor. The backup can be used to recreate at anytime a new formatted field survey file forprocessing. Upload coordinate points or range ofpoints with description filter.

Area Computations and Labeling Hinged area - Draws a line from a pivotpoint to an end point along a picked line, typed in bearing or bearing defined by en-tering and/or picking points. Creates a lotsized to an exact user input acreage or squarefoot (S.F.) value. All SurvCADD predeter-mined area commands work with lots thathave multiple edges including both line andarc segments. Hinged area on curve - Draws a line slidingalong an arc from a pivot point to an endpoint on arc to create lot area equal to aninput acreage or S.F. value. Sliding side area - Slides any picked closedpolyline edge in or out to create the lot equalto input area. The picked edge retains it'sbearing. Slides picked edge along any lineor arc segment on polyline. Area radial from curve - Draw line radialfrom arc to an endpoint along a picked line, typed in bearing or bearing defined by en-tering and/or picking points to create a lot toan exact user input acreage or S.F. value. Lot Description - Screen plots, stores to afile or prints a text description for a lot. Re-port includes area, perimeter, closure results,bearing/distance and arc info for all lines andarcs or polyline selected. All predetermined area routines and the arealabeling commands read the current "AreaLabel Defaults" and plot only those valueschecked (e.g. Lot Description, Acres, S.F.,perimeter...).
