Definition In the cognitive learning theory, students learn by
listening, watching, touching, reading or experiencing.
Learners use their prior knowledge and build on their schema as they need the information.
When a student is learning they place information in files that are stored in a “filing cabinet” in the brain. When new information is gained, a new “file” is created.
