Episodic Memory

• Memory for specific events

• Reconstruction based on schemas and/or temporal landmarks

• Hard to distinguish reconstruction from actual memory– intention to do something versus actually doing it

• Tagged with time, location, context, and mood

• Unique episodes are easier to distinguish than everyday episodes– e.g. brushing your teeth

• Korsokoff’s syndrome– loss of hippocampus (usually from alcoholism)
