Summer 2002: Expression of Interest Called GIACS (Gaze Interaction for Alternative Communication Systems) Key driving force: John Paulin Hansen Abstract:
“The aim of this proposal is to make Europe the world’s leading expert inuse of eye gaze interaction with computers for disabled citizens, such asthose suffering from the locked-in syndrome. Through its researchactivities, the network will develop new and improve interaction techniquesfor common tasks, including: cursor positioning, button selection, menuselection, scrolling, and window handling, and the network will support ajoint implementation of systems for everyday alternative communication . Allsoftware developed within the network will be available to European citizensin freeware versions and major parts will be available for SMEs and localorganisations.”
