Amadeus, a global leader in technology and distribution solutions for the travel and tourism industry, has been named the World’s Leading CRS/GDS System for the third time at the 2009 World Travel Awards ceremony, held recently in London. Amadeus also won this prestigious title in 2007 and 2006. “We are very proud that Amadeus has once again been named as the World’s leading CRS/GDS in 2009,” said David Brett, President, Amadeus Asia Pacific. “This award recognises that our technology is second to none, and our commitment to the industry remains stronger than ever.” “Amadeus processes more bookings globally and in Asia Pacific than any other distribution system, and this award further acknowledges of our leadership position. We are proud to provide technology that drives the industry’s success, particularly as we emerge from a challenging year and focus on growth in 2010,” said Brett. Despite the slump in regional travel due to the depressed global economy, Amadeus has performed strongly in Asia Pacific in 2009. The number of APAC travel agencies using Amadeus to process their reservations increased to 19,500 and new content partnerships were formed with a number of APAC airlines including AirAsia, SEAir and Zest Airways. Amadeus also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Thai Airways, who is assessing the Amadeus Altéa Customer Management System (CMS). This industry-leading technology enables airlines to streamline end-to-end processes, leading to shortened waiting times at the airport, more efficient baggage handling and offers more customer service options such as Web, kiosk and mobile check- ins. Amadeus announced a milestone agreement with AirAsia in September last year to implement Amadeus Ticketless Access – a breakthrough solution that allows real-time fare and flight information from the Low Cost Carrier (LCC) to be displayed alongside that of full-service airlines, on a travel agent’s Amadeus screen. Amadeus also launched the Amadeus Affinity Shopper, an industry-first solution that enables travellers to shop by budget or their desired travel experience on an airline website. While the introduction of electronic tickets is considered to be a major step forward in cost savings and workflow for the travel industry, it also brings the risk of losing money. The paper ticket has always been a reminder of unused value. But e-tickets make it easy for busy executives and employees to simply forget about them, which may result in accumulating millions of dollars of unused e-tickets for some large organizations.

With the Amadeus Unused E-Ticket Tracking Report (UETTR), Amadeus offers ticketing Travel Agents a tool to trace unused electronic tickets. On a daily basis the e-ticketing database of the airlines are queried for the status of your issued e-tickets. By using just a simple entry, a report of all unused e-tickets can be requested on a message queue.

Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives In Hong Kong

Talk To Amadeus – The first and a very successful solutions seminar in the Year of the Tiger.

Hong Kong may seem a very rich & capitalized city to you. Indeed it is. But many people may not realize that, because of income disparity, more than a quarter of families are living in relative poverty.

Since August 2009, Amadeus HK has worked with a charity organization, The Urban Peacemaker Evangelistic Fellowship Limited, on a series of activities to support the under-privileged families.

Donation of written-off computers and furnitureWe have donated our written-off computers and printers to the organization. The computers were used to conduct computer classes for the unemployed and give new immigrants from Mainland China a chance to upgrade their skills. Children without home PCs could use the computers to do their homework.

Visiting the under-privileged families in Mid-Autumn FestivalMid-Autumn Festival is one of the happiest family-gathering seasons. However, there are under privileged families, such as single senior citizens and single-parent families without income, who have no one to share their feelings or then talk to. Our staff have joined the organization invisiting some of these families. It is an invaluable opportunity for our colleagues to understand more about society and contribute to improving the situation.

WalkathonOn 15 November 2009, the cool weather was perfect for some outdoor activities. Our staff, friends & families, and even several agency customers have formed an Amadeus team to participate in a meaningful event – Charity Walk for the Poor. We have not only raised funds for the people in need, but also gained a lot for ourselves – good exercises, good company and the pleasure of walking in the beautiful scenery.

The story will not end hereWe will continue to help the community by volunteering and participating in more charity events and look forward to your participation too!.

Eddie Tsang joined Amadeus Hong Kong in November 2009. As a Regional Manager, Corporate Solutions, Eddie will be responsible for sales and marketing of Amadeus Corporate Solutions to Corporations in the Greater China region. Prior to joining

Amadeus, Eddie worked for other GDS and American International Travel which induced him to have in-depth knowledge and experience in the travel industry, particularly GDS and travel agency operations.

Chris Leung joined Amadeus Hong Kong in February 2010. As an Account Manager, Sales, Chris will be responsible to develop, enhance and maintain customer relationships. Prior to joining Amadeus, Chris worked for Asiana Airlines and Star Alliance. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) in Marketing from City University of Hong Kong.
