Page 1: Codes and conventions of a music magazine double page spread

Main image of artist - which will either go across the two pages or one single page with writing on the other. The image makes direct address to the audience by looking directly at them.

Stand first - which is an introduction to the article and is only a few lines long but snappy.

Drop Capital - Usually the first letter will be a big capital that covers a few lines.

Headline - which is the biggest text on the page and is usually a quote which is taken from the interview.

By line - which tells readers who wrote the article.

Columns – there are usually two or three columns it just depends on the magazine.

Colour scheme - The colour scheme will always be shown in the double page spread and generally has two to three colours.

Page numbers – They sit usually in the bottom left or right hand corners. Also there is usually a little masthead which sits next to the page numbers.

Full stop - Instead of using a full stop at the end they may have a small block or letter related to the article to show it’s the end of the article.

The language - The language that’s used is informal because they are establishing a relationship with the reader

Release date - After the full stop they may have a release date or tour date.

Photographer - On the main image there is usually he name of the photographer which will either run vertically or horizontally in very small writing.

Questions - If there are questions on here then they will be in a different colour and will normally have the names of who asked the questions
