Code of Conduct: Club Officials

(Applies to coaches, referees, and other volunteers)

Newcastle (Staffs) Volleyball Club is fully committed to maintaining and promoting the wellbeing of all its

members. Therefore, members are encouraged to be open at all times to share any concerns or

complaints that they may have about any aspect of the club with their coach or another adult club

Code of Conduct: Parents/Guardians and Spectators

Support your child’s/team’s involvement and help them to enjoy their volleyball

Encourage your child to learn the rules of the game and play within them

Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials

Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results

Never force your child to take part in volleyball

Ensure that your child arrives in time for the start of their session so that they can fully take part in

the warm-up

Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding the good performances of all

Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes

Publicly accept officials’ judgements

Use correct and proper language at all times

Respect the coach and other volunteers for their efforts

Try to ensure that your child is always dressed appropriately for the activity

Try to ensure that your child has always taken on enough liquid prior to the activity and has an

appropriate drink with them at the session

Treat others with the respect and fairness, this includes the use of social networking sites

Code of Conduct: Junior Members (under 18 years)

Newcastle (Staffs) Volleyball Club is fully committed to maintaining and promoting the wellbeing of all its

members, and believes that it is important that members, coaches, administrators and parents associated

with the club should show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others. Therefore,

members are encouraged to be open at all times to share any concerns or complaints that they may have

about any aspect of the club with their coach or another adult club member that they trust. NSVC has a

Welfare Officer to deal with any concerns; this is currently Libby Bellamy (2010-2013)

I will treat others with the respect and fairness that I would like them to show me, this includes the

use of social networking sites

Understand and play within the rules and respect officials and their decisions

Control tempers and avoid behaviour which may inconvenience or upset others

Keep to agreed timings for training/competitions or inform their coach or team manager if they are

going to be late

Members must wear suitable kit for training and matches, as agreed with the coach/team

manager: T-shirt (club t-shirts are available), shorts, indoor trainers and knee-pads (if desired). Do

not wear jewellery for training or matches nor fashionable “converse” type trainers.

Pay any fees for training or events promptly (access to sessions may be prevented without

payment)

Junior members are not allowed to smoke on club premises or whilst representing the club at

competitions

Junior members are not allowed to consume alcohol or drugs of any kind on the club premises or

whilst representing the club

Set a positive example for others on and off the court, particularly younger athletes and spectators

and not use foul, abusive or offensive language.

Accept success and failure in a selfless and positive way

Take care of all property, both personal and that of the club

Thank those responsible for organising any event

Code of Conduct: Senior Members (over 18 years)

Newcastle (Staffs) Volleyball Club is fully committed to maintaining and promoting the wellbeing of

all its members, and believes that it is important that members, coaches, administrators and parents

associated with the club should show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of

others. Therefore, members are encouraged to be open at all times to share any concerns or

complaints that they may have about any aspect of the club with their coach or another adult club

member that they trust. NSVC has a Welfare Officer to deal with any concerns; this is Libby Bellamy

(2010-13).

I will compete within the rules and respect all officials and their decisions
