Hi Everyone,
When you read this I, along with half a dozen
others from this church, will have just spent 5days at “Maryborough Madness.” Maryborough
Madness is a Scripture Union camp for children ingrades 5 & 6 (10-11 y.o.)
Why do we do it?
I recently heard it quoted that results of a surveyof Anglican church-goers found that 60% of adults
reported being influenced to follow Jesus as aresult of a camp. Yes, 60%!! - Maybe you have
been too?
When I thought about it, I realized that one of my
first encounters with Christians (outside my ownfamily) was at a Scripture Union Beach Mission
(day camp) at Dicky’s Beach, Caloundra. And here Iam now co-directing a Scripture Union camp for
kids in Maryborough.
I do camps because they have such an impact on young lives.
Don’t underestimate the influence you can have
when you give your time to serve your communityand please pray for the children who heard about
Jesus (some for the first time) this week, that
they would be encouraged to follow Jesus whole-heartedly!
