Principal’s Report

Students were extremely excited this week due to the

visit from Moorambilla staff. All students in years 3 to

6 had the opportunity to audition for Moorambilla and

we congratulate those students who were chosen to

participate. This is a wonderful opportunity and as we

know from student feedback in previous years, an

event that students thoroughly enjoy.

Following consultation with the executive, I had the

unpleasant task this week of making the decision to

collapse one of our classes. Due to a loss of 1.2 teach-

ing staff positions we are unable to maintain the cur-

rent number of classes, and from the beginning of

Term 2 Mr Vangelatos’ class will be combined into

Mrs Crawford’s and Mrs Sinclair’s classes. Parents of

students effected by this were informed in writing this

week. A transition program for students effected

commenced this week and will continue for the

remainder of the term. Mr Vangelatos will remain in

the school as a temporary staff member covering day

to day absences.

As we do need to drop our teaching staff numbers by

1.2, we will be farewelling Mr Burgess at the end of

the term. We thank Mr Burgess for his time in the

school.

On a brighter note, we continue to enjoy a very settled

school environment and when visiting classrooms it is

evident that students are engaged and enjoying their

learning.

Enjoy the weekend.

Look who has been spotted this week;

Ernie checked out 1S and noticed Miranda

Orr being responsible. She was busy helping

Mr Burgess in the classroom. Mr Burgess is

still learning about Cobar Public School and

Miranda was a great helper. Ernie is very

proud of Miranda helping the new staff.

Ernie just couldn't believe his eyes when

he saw Lachlan in 2K. He is always

prepared for learning and does his 5L's like

a champion. He always tries his hardest,

even if things are tricky for him. Lachlan

knows how to avoid distractions and is a kind

and considerate classmate. He is never too

shy to ask for help if he needs it. Ernie

loves seeing Lachlan's happy face ready

to learn every day. Way to go Lachlan! LEARNER

RESPECTFUL

Ernie has spotted you Emily being a

responsible senior member of our school.

Emily is a wonderful role model to the

younger students. One time that sticks out

like sprinkles on a sausage roll, is when Ernie

saw Emily taking a new Kindy student under

her wing and helping her catch the bus

home. This shows that Emily is responsible

at school and after school as well!

Be proud and keep up the great work!

Emily Williams

Bongo Brothers The Bongo brothers is a house music group that consists of two members

Samuel Makhubela (poet and producer/DJ) and William Semenya (DJ/producer).

CPS students were entertained by the Bongo Brothers on Tuesday the 15th of

March. The students thoroughly enjoyed this show. They were invited to par-

ticipate in dancing and acting. They were taken around the world with music,

children were totally engaged and spent the whole time being entertained by

the brothers, enjoying their humour.

Purple Day Cobar Public School will be participating in Purple Day on

the Thursday 24th of March. Students are encouraged

to wear purple on this day and are asked for a gold coin

donation. Please support this cause.

What is Purple Day?

Purple Day is an international grassroots effort dedicated to increasing awareness

about epilepsy worldwide. On March 26th annually, people in countries around

the world are invited to wear purple and host events in support of epilepsy

awareness. Last year, people in dozens of countries on all continents including

Antarctica participated in Purple Day!
