Principal’s Report
Here we are with our second newsletter for the year already.
Firstly, to attendance. Attendance at school is mandatory and
the Department of Education has strict policy and process for
schools to manage non-attendance. We already have students
who have missed 50% of this school year. Our attendance
data is harvested by the department and the Home School
Liaison Officer (HSLO) analyses this data and will make
contact in person or via phone with families about attendance.
Schools are expected to keep accurate records and to be
extremely proactive in managing non-attendance. So, please
be aware that attendance is a major focus area for the school
this year. Please contact the school if your child is going to be
absent, please reply respectfully to the SMS the goes out
automatically if a student is absent.
The school plan 2018-2020 is now up on the school website.
Thank you to all of our students, staff and community who
contributed to this. Updates on progress will come out during
the year. As part of the planning process and ongoing
reporting requirements, we will be asking community to
complete a number of surveys throughout the year. Please
complete these as the feedback will continue to inform school
practice and processes.
Cobar council are engaging a contractor to clean the town’s
water pipes and this commences Wednesday next week. The
run up Blakey St is the first line to be cleaned and this
includes the school. Following discussions with council, water
at this end of Blakey St will be cut from 4pm on Wednesday
next week. Please keep an eye out for information from
council regarding this.
Congratulations to our new SRC members and Sports
Captains, we look forward to working with them.
Have a great weekend.

Book Club Scholastic has recently been updating how Book Club can be
ordered. Scholastic has introduced a system called Linked
Ordering Online and Payment system (LOOP for short) for
parents.
All you have to do is go online to the Scholastic website, go to the
parenting payment section, choose Book Club and order what
books you would like and pay with your credit card. You do not
have to send forms back to school.
Scholastic will notify me that you have placed an order and the
books will be sent out with all of the other orders.
I am also more than happy to accept order forms at school and can
do the ordering for you if you prefer this way.
Orders will need to be back to school by Tuesday 20th February,
2018. (This is issue 1).
Do not hesitate to contact me via the front office if you need help
or have any questions.

Who Got
Spotted
this week? Eden Brilley
On Eden's first day of kindergarten
Ernie was excited to see her
already being a responsible role
model for her classmates. While
walking to her classroom after lunch
Eden was holding hands with her
partner and walking safely behind
the person in front of her.
Ashleigh Dalton Ernie peeked in on JVB Class and
found Ashleigh intently listening to
the teacher instructions, putting
her hand up waiting to be invited
to answer questions and watching
carefully to see how to do the
learning activities. Ashleigh is a
wonderful role model for her class
and for our school.
Learne
r
Damon Bruce
On the first day back at school
Ernie was very happy to step into
4/5/6SD to spot Damon Bruce taking
notes for Mrs Deppeler. He noticed
Damon was listening to his peers and
writing up a list of suggestions for the
class pack up song. Damon also volun-
teered to help organise paint for art
and cleaned up afterwards. What a
great class captain he is going to be.
