The INNOVENTA kila picks up thebaton from the INNOVA as the flexiblemodel for high demands, but with 20%more loading capacity. Shorter batchtimes increase productivity, nowenabling up to five batches per day,while the patented VMS (VersatileMagnet System) developed by OerlikonBalzers applies coatings homogenouslywith very good target utilisation. In con-trast to the INNOVA, the INNOVENTAkila can process a fourth target materialto meet the demand from tool manufac-turers for differentiation and visualisa-tion, and to allow them to produce cus-tomised coating solutions for theirproducts by assigning specific top layersto their tool types or tool families. Alsonew is the maintenance-free triggerfinger which moves back and forth auto-matically to ignite the target, meaning nomore manual adjustment (saving time inmaintenance and batch preparation) andeliminating a possible source of errorwhich can lead to large amounts of losttime.

The Oerlikon Balzers range alsoincludes the INNOVENTA mega andINNOVENTA giga models, each with amaximum loading capacity of 3000 kilo-grams, for coating higher quantities orlarger components. The INNOVENTAmega has a maximum coating height of900 millimetres and is available withadditional sputtering technology, whilethe INNOVENTA giga can accommodatevery large forming tools or bulky aero-space industry components of up to 1480millimetres. If customers or technicians encountera technical difficulty with a coatingsystem, they can quickly and easily con-tact the on-call support or service teamvia the vSHARE App. The app, whichcan be installed on any smartphone withan iOS or Android operating system,helps visualise the problem by using thesmartphone camera to show the supportdepartment experts a real-time image,and the integrated sketch and markingfunction allows a solution to be found inno time. The service query is docu-mented and saved in the support data-base in order to further improve the ser-vice for the system and enable evenbetter support to be provided in future.

Of course, all services and spare partsfor the INNOVA coating system are stillavailable.
