Whatever You Do Will Prosper— Joel & Victoria Osteen
“He is like a tree planted by streams
of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose
leaf does not wither. Whatever he does
prospers” (Psalm 1:3, NIV)
Father God, thank You for Your Word which lights my path and di-rects my heart. I submit every area of my life to You and put You first in everything I do. Teach me Your ways so I can walk with You and ex-perience everything You have in store for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

How Do We See Ourselves?
Read Romans 12:3
3 Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of
you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest
in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God
has given us. (NLT)
This passage rebukes two types of people. One type is those who think the world
revolved around them: they are what we might call big-headed. The other type is
those who think they are pretty worthless: they don’t matter much at all and even
end up despising themselves.
Paul reminds us there is no room in Christian living for either view. An honest evaluation will include awareness of how far short
of God’s standards we fall. We will remember that Jesus had to endure an agonising death so we might live with God forever.
We just weren’t capable of it from our own resources of goodness or energy.
Then again, we will remember that we are loved by God. He didn’t leave us to our fate. He made us, and he doesn’t make rub-
bish. He longs to take up residence in us and live with us forever. So we must matter a lot to him.
The key to this balanced approach is the faith we share. This is not to do with whether we have strong or weak faith in God. Ra-
ther it is to do with the Christian faith itself. This body of belief expressed in Scriptures tells us we are both loved and yet much in
need of that love. We are imperfect enough for God to take radical action to rescue us. We are valuable enough for him to make
Saving Ourselves
In 1972, the Uruguayan Rugby team and their families were involved in a plane crash
in snow covered mountains. Many survived the crash and waited for rescue. They
were able to listen to the radio reports of the attempts to find and rescue them. After
four weeks, three of the group listened to a radio report that said the search had
been called off. Gustavo Nicolich volunteered to break the news to the desperate
survivors.
"Good news!" he said "The search has been called off." Dumbfounded and angry,
others asked how that could possibly be good news. Nicolich replied "Because it
means we will get out of here on our own," hich, as the story "Alive" tells, is exactly
what they did. This group went from being passengers on a plane to passengers waiting to be rescued. What Nicolich then achieved was to
build a team of survivors working together for rescue.
Life is not about being a passenger. We were created to live full, active lives: to know, love and serve God and each other.
Live as someone who will make a difference rather than being a passenger. (Rev Karl Faase—Daily Nudge)

To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul;
Psalm 25:1 NIV
Not Finished Yet!
We need a new
button, t-shirt,
bumper sticker, or
cap that reads...NFY!
It stands for
Not Finished Yet!
Regardless of the
label people put on
you (senior,
baby-boomer, retired
person), regardless
of the number of
birthdays you've
celebrated, you are
still here. And as
long as you are here,
you are not there,
and as long as you
are not there, it
means God still has
a purpose for you
here.
When Jesus was on
the cross, the last
thing He said was, "It
is finished." After He
made that statement
He died. When is
God's purpose for
you on this earth
finished? It is
finished when you
die... until then, you
are not finished yet!
NFY!
Does the thought of
getting older
discourage you or
make you fearful?
Consider these
words the Lord
spoke to Isaiah: I will
be your God
throughout your
lifetime--until your
hair is white with
age. I made you,
and I will care for
you. Isaiah 46:4 NLT
