Wow, here we are already in March!! It’s always a busy time at Louis, and it’s not slowing down much,

so here’s what’s been going on in February and what’s coming up.

Varsity Men Basketball:

Congratulations to the Varsity Men’s Basketball Team for finishing Consolation Champions in the

Father Michael Troy Tournament (Tournament All Star: Jan Rae Dela Cruz).

Junior Varsity Women Basketball:

Congratulations to the Junior Varsity Women Basketball Team for winning Consolation Championship

in the Ray Lacaviele Tournament. #14 Jenna Schultz was named Tournament All Star!!

Junior Varsity Men Basketball: Congratulations to the Junior Varsity Men Basketball om finishing 3rd

Place in the Hoopla Tournament. Special Congratulations to #5 Daniel Gynane for being names

Tournament All Star.

Junior High Senior Boys Basketball Team:

Congratulations to the LSL Senior Boys Basketball Team for finishing 3rd place in our own SENIOR

HOOPS Basketball Tournament. Special Congratulations to Tournament Allstar: #9 Binik Chuol

Junior High Senior Girls Basketball Team: Congratulations to the Senior Girls for finishing 4th place in

our very own SENIOR HOOPS TOURNAMENT.

Special Congrats to #3 Nyero Otoroh for being named Tournament Allstar.

Junior Junior Boys and Girls Basketball Teams:

It makes me smile to see these young boys and girls compete in athletics at our school. They have so

much school spirit and enthusiasm and reminds us adults why we play sports and the impact that it

has on our lives.

St. FX “5th Annual JR JR BBALL” Tournament – LSL finished 2nd place with #3 Nathan Hartum

TOURNAMENT Allstar!!

Also… Congratulations to #12 James Ellert for being named Athlete of the

Month for February!!

Spring League BASKETBALL:

I encourage all of our basketball players to tryout or different Spring League

Teams this year. There was a lot of growth this year within all of our Basketball

Teams and we want to see our athletes continue to develop and improve their

skills!!

BADMINTON: Varsity Badminton has begun for the High School, with tryouts already underway. Mr. Jaret Peel, Mr.,

Mr. Darren Zeggil-Carby, Ms. Joanna Dimatatac, Mr. Luis Carcia and Mr. John Dol Dol are the coaches

this year and are excited to get the season going. Our league starts March 6th with LSL competing in

Division II.

We will also be attending the H.A.B.I.T Harry Ainlay Badminton Invitational Tournament March 15-16th,

Concordia Touranment April 6-7th and RBI Romero Invitational April 12th-13th.

Zone Championships April 11th (Singles); April 15th (Doubles); April 18th (Mixed Doubles) – All Events held

at Saville.

Provincials this year at May 2-4th at Calgary Alberta.

Junior High Badminton Team: coached by Mr. Marc Lapierre. Tryouts will being in early March for all

grade 8 and 9 boys and girls. (Only Club grade 7 players will be allowed to try out). TRYOUTS are

MARCH 12, 13, and 14th!!!

Varsity High School Track and Field: Will begin right after Spring Break. Please see Mr. Peel or Mr.

Nsaliwa for more details.

Running Room Games: Please sign up with Mr. Peel or Mr. Nsaliwa… The event takes place on March

12th at the Butterdome!!

BARONS HOCKEY ACADEMY The Barons Hockey Academy recently completed their on ice and off ice testing :

WILL TUMARMA

Will finsihed 6th on highbar, 5th on floor, silver on rings, gold on pommel horse, GOLD on parallel

bars, GOLD on vault and finally all around I got a SILVER medal and qualified for Western Canadian

Gymnastics Championships. Good Luck WILL!

Congratulations to former Barons Hockey Academy Player Jarred White for being named to the 2019

AJHL All Academic Team for the second year in a row!!

The players nominated are deemed to have a commendable dedication to their studies at either the

high school or post-secondary level, along with a grade score reflective of their academic success. These

players demonstrate the qualities of a strong student-athlete working to further their athletic and

academic pursuit.
