Situated just 4 miles north of Shrewsbury is the 18th century Albrighton Hall which is now an upmarket hotel and spa owned by Mercure Hotels. It is set in 15 acres of landscaped grounds with a lovely ornamental lake and the Spa complex at the hotel includes an indoor heated pool. We have chosen this hotel for what promises to be a very enjoyable 3-night short break of distinction. It is situated fairly close to the Welsh border so it is very easy for us to feature one or two Welsh highlights as well as some Shropshire ones. ITINERARYDay 1 (Sunday) We will travel into Oxfordshire to The Chesterton Hotel near Bicester for our coffee stop. Then to our lunch stop in the West Mid-lands at the Sun Inn at Romsley. In the afternoon we will visit Weston Park a lovely red-brick Georgian mansion, built in 1671 for the Earl of Bradford. The interior of Weston features an excellent art collection including works by Stubbs, Hans Holbein, van Dyck, and Lely. There is also fine furniture and tapestries on display. The grounds were laid out by Capability Brown. Late afternoon tea we shall check-in at our hotel. Dinner here this evening.Day 2 (Monday) This morning there will be a cruise on the Llangollen Canal which passes through picturesque countryside. We will pass over the amazing Pontcysyllte Aqueduct which is the country’s highest navigable aqueduct, towering 126ft above the River Dee. This is engineering on a breath-taking scale. In the afternoon we shall visit Plas Newydd, a Regency Gothic fantasy once home to the two ladies of Llangollen who entertained Wordsworth and Sir Walter Scott. We shall then drive up the spectacular Horseshoe Pass which reaches a height of 417m and has stunning views. Dinner at our hotel. Day 3 (Tuesday) Tme at leisure this morning to explore Shrewsbury which could include St Chad’s church where Darwen was baptised, the charming market square, the castle, the museum and art gallery or a tour at Theatre Severn. In the afternoon we shall visit Powis Castle, a medieval fortress and grand country house. Once the home of General Clive of India it contains a stunning collection of treasures from India. Powys is particularly famous for its gardens with Italianate terraces, spectacular yew hedges, dancing statues and lavish herbaceous borders. Dinner at our hotel. Day 4 (Wednesday) Today we travel home via Much Wenlock a charming priory town to Ludlow, where there will be time to obtain lunch. This thriving medieval market town is an architectueal gem. The historic 11th century castle sits on a cliff above the River Teme. Our route then takes us via Clee Hill with its outstanding views to Bewdley on the River Severn where we shall have a short stop. Finally Dinner will be near Kidderminster at 6.00pm prior to us arriving back in West London by 9.00pm or so.

Our short break to Guernsey in the Channel Islands in 2018 was greatly enjoyed. It has resulted in requests that in 2020 we arrange a similar trip to Jersey. Well, here it is ! Our base on Jersey will be the well appointed Beausite Hotel at Grouville. Its has attractively furnished bedrooms in a modern style, a popular cocktail bar, an acclaimed restaurant, an indoor heated indoor swimming pool, a jacuzzi, gym and a garden area. The beach is just a short walk away - within a few minutes. Travel to and from Jersey will by coach to Poole and then by Condor Ferry to St Helier - see below. We hope you will decide to join us.

ITINERARYDay 1 (Sunday) We shall travel by coach to Poole from West London with all of our usual pick-up points being used (including Shepherds Bush at 8.00am, Ealing at 8.20am, Greenford at 8.40am and Hillingdon at 9.05am). If you would like a home pick-up by taxi to bring you to Hillingdon this can be arranged at an extra charge of £7 each way. At Poole we shall catch the 1.30pm Condor Ferries sailing to St Helier, Jersey. Our reserved seats will be in the first class Horizon Lounge with its superb views. We shall pass Alderney, Herm, Sark and Guernsey. Lunch will be obtainable on board - no queueing in first class. On arrival we shall be transferred to the Beausite Hotel which is at Grouville just over ten minutes away. Dinner at our hotel this evening.Day 2 (Monday) A guided island tour awaits us this morning. We shall ex-perience some of Jersey’s stunning coastal scenery as well as the botanic gardens at Somares Manor, Jersey Pearl and Mont Orgueil Castle. Due back at our hotel by 4.00pm. Rest of the day at leisure. Dinner at our hotel.Day 3 (Tuesday) Today is a free day. You can relax at our hotel if you wish or enjoy an excursion to the Jersey Zoo (founded by Gerald Durrell) and to the Occupation Tapestry. There will also be time to visit the shops in the island’s capital St Helier. Don’t miss going inside the indoor market which is a popular destination with the locals. Dinner at a leading Jersey restaurant this evening - sea views included. Transport there and back will be provided. Day 4 (Weds) A free day. An optional visit is available today to the walled city of St Malo (passport required). 5 hours ashore. Dinner at our hotel. Day 5 (Thursday) Morning at leisure. A final opportunity to relax and enjoy the facilities of the Beausite Hotel. At 11.30am we shall leave our hotel to return to Poole aboard the 1.00pm Condor Ferries sailing, due Poole at 5.40pm. Here our Bessway coach will return us to West London. Traffic permitting we expect to arrive at Hillingdon by about 8.00pm and at our other set-down points slightly later. This brings our short holiday to Jersey to a close.

Following our very successful stay at the famous Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate in 2018 we are delighted to return here again but this time staying for an extra night giving us more time to explore the outstanding scenery of the Yorkshire Dales and also the many attractions of the Yorkshire Moors. The Old Swan Hotel has impressive public rooms and an abundance of single rooms for which no single supplement is charged. It enjoys a very central location within a short walk of the shops and the attractive Valley Gardens. Agatha Christie famously stayed here in 1926. The popular Betty’s Tea Rooms are a short walk away.

ITINERARYDay 1 (Sunday) Our coach will travel into Hertfordshire for our coffee stop. From here we continue into Cambridgeshire for lunch in the historic village of Buckden. Our afternoon visit will be to Belton House, a classic 17th century mansion set in its own estate with impressive gardens and an interior which reflects the wealth of the family. There is a notable collection of silver , porcelain and paintings. It featured in Pride and Prejudice on BBC tv. Dinner at our hotel.

Day 2 (Monday) After breakfast our coach will take us to the famous town of Richmond, gateway to Swaledale. The charming market square has fine Georgian houses and the town in dominated by its ancient castle. Richmond also has a famous Georgian Theatre. Our coach will then travel to the town of Askrigg, famous as the location for the BBC series All Creatures Great and Small. Our route will then takes us to Hawes situated on the River Ure. We shall visit the Wens-leydale Creamery, makers of the famous Wensleydale cheese. Finally we visit Aysgarth Falls, one of the loveliest in Yorkshire. Dinner at our hotel.Day 3 (Tuesday) We shall travel via Ripon and Thirsk to the Helmsley, the only market town in the North York Moors. Here you will be able to obtain coffee and look around. Then we shall travel via Rievaulx Abbey ( not stopping) and through charming Hutton le Hole to Pickering a thriving little town and the terminus of the famous North York Moors Railway. Now you have the choice of a steam train ride to Goathland, made famous in the TV series Heartbeat or a visit to Castle Howard. Designed by Sir John Vanbrugh this famous home of the Howard family dates from 1699 and its stunning baroque interior is full of priceless treasures. Dinner at our hotel.Day 4 (Wednesday) Time at leisure this morning to explore Harrogate with its magnificent floral displays, and Betty’s famous tea room. We leave here at 12 noon to visit Nostell Priory created by Robert Adam in the 18th century. The interior has the finest collection of Chippendale furniture. Travel home stopping for dinner en route at 6pm. Due West London 9.30pm

Pitlochry, the gateway to the Scottish Highlands, is an excellent base to explore this very attractive part of Scotland. We shall be staying for 5 nights at the well appointed 3-star Fisher’s Hotel which enjoys a very central location in the heart of the town centre. Many of its bedrooms overlook the hotel’s pleasant gardens. Pitlochry is a charming destination which sits on the banks of the River Tummel. It is surrounded by amazing scenery. As for the Pitlochry Festival Theatre this is famous throughout Scotland and further afield. To get to Scotland quickly we shall be travelling by train in first class then by coach from Glasgow to Pitlochry. To get you to Euston Station on Day 1 a home pick-up by 7-seater car will be arranged.

ITINERARYDay 1 (Thursday) By Virgin express train from London to Glasgow in four and a half hours, departing Euston at 10.30am. Lunch will be served to us at our reserved seats in first class. On arrival in Glasgow we will transfer to our luxury coach for the journey to Pitlochry. Dinner and a 5 night stay at Fishers Hotel in the centre of the town.Day 2 (Friday) This morning we shall visit Glamis Castle the child-hood home of the late Queen Mother. Built in a fine baronial style the castle contains many treasures. In the afternoon we shall visit the the traditional weaver’s cottage where J M Barrie, the creator of Peter Pan, was born. A National Trust for Scotland property. Dinner at our hotel. Day 3 (Saturday) Today will give us time at leisure to enjoy Pitlochry. The famous fish ladder is a series of pools which enable the salmon to swim from one level to another. Pitlochry also has many shops selling a wide range of woollens. In the afternoon you may wish to attend a matinee at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre (optional). Dinner at our hotel. Day 4 (Sunday) We start the day by visiting the Pass of Killiekrankie an impressive wooded gorge, which is a popular beauty spot and well known for the Jacobite battle which took place nearby. From here we shall drive to Loch Tummel and the Queens View, one of the most famous viewpoints in Scotland. The panorama west to the peak of Schiehallion and Rannoch Moor is breathtaking. Our final visit of the day is to Blair Castle, home of the Atholl Family. The paintings, furniture and other contents reflect the lives, history and interests of the dukes of Atholl. Dinner at our hotel.Day 5 (Monday) This morning will be time at leisure in Pitlochry, a chance to visit the Edradour Distillery, the smallest traditional distillery in Scotland and the last stronghold of handmade single malt whisky from a farm distillery. Afternoon visit to Scone Palace near Perth. It was here that Scottish kings were once crowned. The present building has an ornate interior that is mostly Victorian. The gardens include a very fine pinetum. Dinner at our hotel.Day 6 (Tuesday) We shall leave Pitlochry behind us and travel via the fair city of Perth on the River Tay to Gleneagles where lunch will be served to us in this most impressive of Scottish hotels. Then to Glasgow to catch the 4.40pm train to London, due Euston Station at 9.19pm. A meal with wine will be served to us during the journey. At Euston 7-seater cars will meet us to return you to your home. We trust that this unique holiday will interest you.

We also need to know your name, address, phone number, e-mail address if you have one, and which coach boarding point is best for you. All postal bookings will be acknowledged.By e-mail Send us an e-mail to [email protected] Please provide all of the information requested in the above paragraph. Do not state your debit card or credit card details. Instead we will phone you to obtain this information. In person To keep our overheads low, and our prices low too, we choose not to have any business premises. If you wish to pay for a trip in person and pay using cash this is possible on Tuesdays and Wednesday mornings as follows - each Tuesday morning between 10.30am and 11.15am Graham will be at Costa Coffee in the centre of Greenford. On Wednesday mornings between 10.30am and 11.15am he will be in Starbucks coffee shop which is opposite Ealing Broadway Station. Graham expects to be on holiday a maximum of 3 times a year. usually during the school holidays. BOOKING CONDITIONS FOR DAY TRIPS & SHORT BREAKS1. Your contract when making a booking is with Coach Trips From London Ltd. This contract is subject to the following terms and conditions which are subject to English law and jurisdiction. Before submitting a booking for a day trip, short break, holiday or other event you are required to read these conditions and be aware of them as they are legally binding on the person making the booking and on any other persons included in that booking. 2. Bookings are accepted subject to availability. Early booking is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment. 3. Persons with special needs are required to make these known at the time of booking. Wheelchairs of the folding type can be accepted on trips but the company needs to be told in advance if you are bringing one. Motorised mobility vehicles cannot be accepted as they tend to be very heavy. Coach drivers cannot be asked to lift them into the coach boot because of their excessive weight. 4. You must be ready to depart at the departure time that has been given to you. If you are not ready at this time the coach drivers are authorised not to wait for you in fairness to other passengers. The same rule applies to the homeward journey and to intermediate stops. We advise you to be ready to depart 5 minutes ahead of the time you have been given. 5. You may not play a CD, DVD or MP3 player or radio on the vehicle unless you use headphones and its operation is totally silent. Nor must hot snacks or hot meals be consumed.6. Seat belts must be fastened at all times when the vehicle is moving. This is a legal requirement. 7. If you need to cancel a booking you have made please notify the booking office immediately. Refunds are not allowed but you can transfer your ticket(s) to other persons if you wish but their names must be supplied in advance.8. The company reserves the right to cancel a trip, short break or holiday if insufficient bookings are received to make it financially viable. In this event a full refund of monies paid will be made. No compensation can be paid in repect of disappointment, inconvenience or consequential financial loss. 9. The company cannot accept responsibility for passengers’ possessions that are left on vehicles. Anything left on vehicles will always be at the owner’s risk. 10. The company reserves the right to terminate a passenger’s trip, short break or holiday in the event of any unreason-able conduct which, in its opinion, is likely to cause distress, damage, danger or annoyance to other passengers. Upon such refusal or termination the company’s responsibility for your trip, short break or holiday ceases. The company will be under no obligation whatsoeever for any refund, compensation or loss you may incur. If buying goods abroad then duty free allowance must not be exceeded. Nor must you ask other passengers to carry goods on your behalf through customs.11. Coach Trips From London Ltd. is not a vehicle owner or operator. Vehicles used on its day trips, short breaks and holidays are hired from coach operators who are well established in this type of activity. If people carriers or taxis are used as feeder vehicles they will be hired from licensed operators.12. Please take care at all times when boarding and alighting from vehicles, and when crossing roads as this is sometimes necessary. Similarly, when entering buildings and negotiating steps, stairways and corridors. The company does not accept responsibility for accidents unless the company is proven to be negligent. 13. If you have a complaint regarding the execution of a day trip, short break or holiday please submit details of your complaint in writing to Graham Jenkins, the company’s administrator, at 2 Wood End Gardens, Northolt UB5 4QH within 10 days of your trip. Please note that the company cannot accept responsibility for any events which are out-side of its control such as traffic congestion, closed roads, industrial action or vehicles supplied by contractors breaking down or arriving late unless Coach Trips From London Ltd. is proven to be negligent. If a day trip is abandoned because it is impossible to reach the intended destination due to gridlocked roads, closed roads or severe delays at ferry ports then passengers will be returned to their starting points and given free place(s) when the trip is re-run at a later date. The decision to abandon a trip will be taken by the company and this decision must be respected by the passengers affected.
