VIENNA YOUTH SOCCER Coach: Stephen Bird Week: Two Team: U5 House Practice Topic: Animal Week (Dribbling) What: Improve dribbling technique. Work: 10-12 Mins Rest: 1 Min Animals- Cheetah- Fast Turtle- Slow Penguin- Tic tocs Monkey- Toe Taps Crocodile- Kids snap hands whilst dribbling Giraffe- Stand tall, use laces to dribble Polar Bear- Sleep on the ball Organization: Players have a ball each dribbling around the area. Work: 10 Mins Rest: 1 Min Hungry Hippo- Coach becomes the hippo and tries and steals soccer balls. If coach gets the ball, place it in the pugg goal. Progression- Two or three kids become the hippo. Organization: If the game doesn’t work, play tag with the kids or move onto the next game. Organization: Have the kids put pennies in when they get a water break. Stage: Work: 12-15 Mins Rest: 1 Min Foxes and Farmers- Foxes (kids) tuck a pennie into their shorts (ask parents to help) and the coach becomes the farmer. Farmer tries to take the pennie. Kid then becomes a farmer. Progression- Two or three kids become the farmer. Play without a ball to start. Organization: Same setup as sharks and minnows. Work: 12-15 Mins Rest: 1 Min Bonus Game- Alligator, Alligator: 10 minutes Same version as sharks and minnows, players attempt to dribble their ball across the swamp. If they get caught by the alligator, they stay in swamp and become an alligator. A Lifetime of Soccer
