DAY 04 FULL DAY GALILEE – YARDINITE – TIBERIAS 28 APR Today we will enjoy the Sea of Galilee, which was the scene of our Lord’s Ministry. We board our boat on the TUE western shore (Tiberias) and head into the middle of the Lake for a special time of reading and contemplation

before turning north to Nof Ginnosar Kibbutz. Here we visit the Museum where we will view the “Jesus Boat”, a two-thousand-year-old boat discovered in 1986 that was pulled from the mud along the north-western shore of the Sea of Galilee. The Boat is a type of boat that was used on the Sea of Galilee for both fishing and transportation across the lake. It is likely that this sort of boat was used by Jesus and His disciples, many of whom were fishermen. Hereafter we drive to Capernaum, Jesus’ hometown during His ministry. At Capernaum we will see the ruins of a second century Synagogue, similar to the one in which Jesus taught and healed. There is also a well-preserved oil-press. We will spend time at the Mount of the Beatitudes on the northern slopes of the Sea of Galilee and at Tabgha, the traditional site of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes. Right on the shore of the Lake is the Chapel of Mensa Christi, site of the re-commissioning of Peter. In the afternoon we will drive to Yardinite where the Jordan River flows from the Sea of Galilee, and has developed as a baptism area. Here the opportunity will be given for those who want to be Baptized (Optional $12 for robe & towel hire). Time Permitting we will visit the Yardenite Kibbutz Date Farm. Return to our Hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 05 TIBERIAS – BET SHEAN – QUMRAN – EIN BOKEK 29 APR This morning we drive south along the Jordan River to Bet Shean – here the bodies of Saul and his sons were tied WED to the city walls. We will take a walk through the excavations revealing a remarkable city, one that incorporated all

the 'glory of Rome' and the best of Hellenistic culture. A typical Roman Cardo, or main commercial thoroughfare, connected the upper city with the forum, theatre, marketplace and Roman bathhouse. Hereafter drive further south to visit the Qumran Caves, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. We will watch a video and walk to view the caves. Later you will have the opportunity to shop at this wonderful Kibbutz. Our journey continues to Ein Bokek where we will be transferred to our resort Hotel on the shores of the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. You also have the opportunity to swim (or rather float!) in the salty mineral water of the Dead Sea. Dinner and overnight in Ein Bokek.

DAY 06 MASADA – EIN GEDI – CITY OF DAVID – JERUSALEM 30 APR This morning after breakfast we drive to Mt Masada to visit Herod’s fortress. We will reach the mountaintop THU by cable car. On top of the mountain we will view the remains of a Jewish fortress and hear the fascinating historical story of 967 Jews that would rather commit mass-suicide than to fall in the hands of the Romans who besieged the mountain. Hereafter we go to the Kibbutz Ein Gedi, known for its caves, springs, waterfalls and its rich diversity of flora and fauna. We will walk up to the first waterfall. Ein Gedi is mentioned several times in biblical writings, for example, in the Song of Songs; "My beloved is unto me as a cluster of henna flowers in the vineyards of Ein Gedi”. According to Jewish tradition, David hid from Saul in the caves here; "And David went up

from thence, and dwelt in the strongholds of Ein Gedi" (1 Samuel 24:1). We continue north up to Jerusalem. As we enter Jerusalem we will stop to have a beautiful view over Jerusalem. Continue to the City of David, the archaeological site that is speculated to compose the original urban core of ancient Jerusalem. This site believed to be the place where King David built his palace 3 000 years ago. The archaeological mysteries buried in the City of David have captivated researchers for the last 150 years. Here we will experience Hezekiah’s Tunnel which was dug 700 B.C., (131 feet beneath the City of David in Jerusalem) during the reign of King Hezekiah of Judea. Built as a safeguard for Jerusalem’s water supply, the 1 749 foot long, sloping tunnel winds from the Gihon Spring to the Pool of Siloam. Because of the gravity flow, this forced the Gihon waters into a storage basin, which was later named the Pool of Siloam. Walk in illuminated darkness through the water of Hezekiah’s Tunnel, where water has flowed since the time of the prophets. The walk through the dark water tunnel is for tourists who are in good shape and want to journey back into time. For those who do not want to walk through the dark water tunnel, there is an alternative walk through the lighted dry tunnel on the left. Continue to our Hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. For those who want, at your own arrangement, take a taxi or tram to Ben Yahuda Street to experience the Jewish night life with many shops and coffee bars.

DAY 07 FULL DAY OLD CITY – FREE TIME – GARDEN TOMB – JERUSALEM 01 MAY This morning, after breakfast, you will enter the Old City through the Dung Gate. We walk to the Wailing Wall, FRI also known as the Western Wall, the holiest site for the Jews. A special visit has been arranged for us to visit the “Kotel Tunnels”, where we will walk beneath the Temple Mount. Continue to the Temple Area* where you

will view the El Aksa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock where Solomon’s temple stood and the rock where Isaac according to tradition was to have been offered. We continue to St. Stephen’s Gate, also known as the Lion Gate. You will stop for a visit to the Pool of Bethesda, the Fortress of Antonio, and the Ecco Homo Arch. Follow the Via Dolorosa, and stop at the various Stations of the Cross to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the traditional Calvary and the Chapel where the crucifixion is said to have taken place. Hereafter you will enjoy

some free time for shopping in the streets of the Old City with its colourful markets and narrow alleyways. Later we visit the Garden Tomb also known as Gordon’s Golgotha, where a Breaking of Bread Service will be held, one of the highlights of your tour. We return to our Hotel for dinner and overnight. For those who want (at your own arrangement) you can take taxi or walk to Western Wall to experience the Jewish celebrations after Shabbat ends.

DAY 08 MT OLIVES – MT ZION – JERUSALEM 02 MAY This morning after breakfast we visit the Mount of Olives with its beautiful view over Jerusalem. We will visit SAT the Church of Ascension and then the Pater Noster Church where Jesus taught His disciples the “Our

Father”. We walk down the slopes to the Church of All Nations where Jesus suffered His “bitter cup”. Next we walk down the Mt of Olives to Gethsemane, and on route we visit the Dominus Flavit Church, with its beautiful view over the Old City and the Golden Gate. Gethsemane is where Jesus prayed, especially the night before His crucifixion (Luke 22:39). Judas also betrayed Him here, and this is the place where Peter cut off the ear of the high priest’s servant (John 18:10). Hereafter we drive to Mt Zion where we will visit The Last Supper Room that commemorates the "upper room" in which Jesus shared Last Supper with the disciples. Hereafter we visit the Church of St. Peter in Galicantu, also known as the House of Caiaphas or the “Church of the Cockcrow”, where Peter denied Jesus. Return to Hotel for overnight. OPTIONAL EXTRA:

After dinner we can be transferred to Jaffa Gate to see the spectacular “Sound & Light Show” @ $30.00 P.P.

DAY 09 DAVIDSON MUSEUM – ISRAEL MUSEUM – BETHLEHEM* – TEL AVIV /JOHANNESBURG 03 MAY This morning after breakfast we depart to the Davidson Centre, built into the basement of an eighth-century SUN building. As you follow the winding ramp downward, artwork and archaeological finds take you back through the ages, and you will meet colourful figures of Jerusalem’s exploration in days gone by. A ten-minute video ingeniously interchanges the experience of Second Temple Pilgrims with that of present day visitors. You will walk on the Southern Steps of the Temple (the Hulda Steps where Jesus walked many times - the former southern side of the Second Temple also called Herod's Temple). Here you will also see the Pinnacle of the Temple which is woven into the south western corner of the Temple Mount built during King Herod's expansion of the Temple Mount platform southward on to the Ophel. Hereafter drive past the New Hebrew University to the Israel Museum where the Dead Sea Scrolls are being kept. We will walk around the new reconstructed Holy Land Model, a giant scale model of the Old City of Jerusalem at the time of Jesus, and through the Scrolls Museum the “Shrine of the Book” where the Dead Sea Scrolls are kept. Hereafter we drive to Bethlehem and visit the Church of Nativity, built on the site of Jesus’ birth. Visit the Grotto next to the Church of Nativity from where you can enjoy the spectacular view over the Shepherd’s fields. From here we start our journey back to Johannesburg as we transfer to Ben Gurion Airport for our overnight flight LY 051 at ± 23:59.

DAY 10 TEL AVIV / JOHANNESBURG 04 MAY Arrive back at OR Tambo International Airport at 08:25 am after a wonderful tour through Israel, with MON beautiful memories and a better understanding of the Word of God in the Land of God.
