PRESIDENT’S REPORT Happy Fall! I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you, our members, for your continued patronage and support of our retail co-operative. Thanks to your loyalty, your co-op is able to provide back to you a general repayment of $218,414.72 from this year’s equity allocation. Being a member of a co-operative is so much more than earning equity and receiving patronage dividend cheques. I’m continually impressed by the engagement of our members. Thank you for providing your voice at our recent informational meetings, Annual General Meeting, and interaction with your elected board of directors. The ideas we’ve received for a new name for our amalgamated co-op have also been very helpful in shaping the future of our organization. In addition to monthly board meetings in Elm Creek, our co-op has 4 directors that are serving on the board of what will be the amalgamated co-op (myself, Gayle Wolfram, Mark Boyachek and Ron de Ruiter). On this board we are working on fine tuning governance and policies for the new organization, a name for the new co-op, and held a strategic planning meeting jointly with the staff. Meanwhile, staff are working very hard at a lot of behind- the-scenes processes and systems that are required to create a smooth transition on December 1 and we are grateful for their efforts. It has been a pleasure working with the Marquette board and staff. You may have noticed that construction is underway for a new shed on the north side of our lot. This is a much-needed multi- function building that will primarily serve as asset protection as our fuel trucks are currently stored outdoors. It will also free up space in our warehouse by storing oil products. The addition of this building will also aid in storing agricultural products to bring more variety to our Agro division in Elm Creek. Talk to Helena if you are interested in booking seed this fall! I will be attending the Federated Co-operatives Limited Fall conference in November on behalf of our co-op. If you have any questions that you’d like me to bring forward to our #1 supplier, please feel free to reach out to me by phone or e-mail [email protected]. are down about 35% from

holding their own however.

Petroleum has taken the

lead. Litres are up by 5%

overall, though dollar sales

flation of about 9%. Oil,

Sales are up.

Grocery sales are just

above last year with Liquor

97% in favour and we are

in the process of looking

for a new name . We have

had member, staff & board

input and feel we are get-

ting close to a decision.
