Think about your experience so far as a CNSM student. Write a few thoughts down on your worksheet

Pair up with someone next to you. Introduce yourselves.

Share your experience in pairs. Make note of how similar or different your time has been so far.

Advising Appointment Vs. Walk-in Appointments

Advising Appointments• 30 minute advising sessions

• Schedule Appt. on Student Success Collaborative (in Single Sign On) with your pre-major advisor

• Good Topics to discuss: Class Schedules, Degree Progress and Planning, Withdrawing from classes, filing petitions, Academic Challenges, Summer School, Taking Classes at a Community College. Referrals for additional resources.

• It’s recommended you meet with your advisor at least once a semester.

Walk-in Appointments• 5-10 minute advising session

• No appointment necessary. Sign in at the SAS Center (HSCI-164) during the designated hours. Students are seen on first come, first service.

• Good topics to discuss: Signatures or assistance with completing petitions, how to sign up for CPT or GWAR, Reviewing classes in your shopping cart or degree planner, referrals to other centers on campus

• The more specific your questions, the better we can assist.

120 units divided by 4 years 120 units divided by 5 years

= 30 units per year = 24 units per year

= 15 units per semester = 12 units per semester

Or 12 units per semester + 6 summer units

• The Goal is to complete your degree with a high GPA and in fewest semesters

• Summer session can help limit unit load• Once fully declared, major advisors will assist with your graduation

Tutoring Misconceptions

Tutoring is just for students who are struggling in their class. If I am smart, then tutoring won’t be beneficial. True or False?

Going to tutoring is a substitution for studying. True or False?

If I go for tutoring, then I will get an A. True or False?
