Volume 2: Issue 2 30 January 2012
Dear Abby Dear Abby,
My girlfriend broke up with me a few weeks ago. I’m very upset
and I want her back.
A lonely X
Dear lonely X,
You should start first by talking to her. Discuss the reason she broke
up with you. Trying to establish a friendship again should be your
main goal. If she just doesn’t feel the same way you should try to
move on. There’s other fish in the sea!
Abby
Dear Abby,
I really like this guy but he hates me (I’m pretty sure). I still like him
though. I do have a theory. I think that he still thinks that girls have
cooties or he was just trying to show off to his friends. If we were
rated he would be a 10 and I would be a 9. I always write about him,
talk about him, and look at him. He’s in all my classes except P.E.
but I still see him there! I just don’t know what to do! HELP ME
ABBY!!!!!!!!!
Broken Hearted & Confused
Dear Broken Hearted and Confused,
First DO NOT underestimate yourself! Second there are sooo many
other hot dudes in middle school. Don’t get so hung up on him. But,
you should at least try to be his friend first. Every good relationship
starts with a solid friendship. If he is in every class then don’t look at
him so much. Just concentrate on other subjects. Boyfriends and girl-
friends don’t last as long as friends do. Your friends will always be
there for you. If in the end you do not have a boyfriend, at least
you’ve gained a friend.
Sincerely,
Abby

Poet’s Corner This is a poem that a good friend of mine submitted. Enjoy!
I Am Poem…. I am caring and forgiving.
I wonder, when will the world end?..
I see the good in the bad, in people..
I want to help the helpless…
I am caring and forgiving.
I pretend to be a professional dancer….
I feel frightened when I’m alone with no one to talk to….
I worry about not being good enough…
I cry about the relationship I have with my parents….
I am caring and forgiving.
I understand that life isn’t easy, and wasn’t meant to be…
I say that I’m not perfect and don’t want to be….
I dream of being successful….
I try to please everyone….
I hope to be a better parent than mine….
I am caring and forgiving.
Currently, the eighth graders are reciting poems in Mrs. Spencer’s
class. One of these poems is Shel Silverstein’s “No Difference”.
Here is this poem:
Small as a peanut Big as a giant, We're all the same size When we turn off the light Rich as a sultan Poor as a mite Were all worth the same When we turn out the light Red black or orange, Yellow or white (continued on next page)

We all look the same When we turn off the light. So maybe the way To make everything right Is for God to just reach out And turn off the light! Some people may catch on to this poem quickly while others may be left behind and confused. This poem, in my opinion, is an easier poem to interpret. I am here to help those who have a little more trouble. Below are some questions that you can chew on while you read and help you.
a. Why are colors mentioned in the poem? b. Why has the poet used these specific colors? c. How would turning out the light benefit? d. Why does wealth and size matter? e. What do you think of when you think of the word “different”?
By learning to ask yourself these kind of questions you will eventually be able to fluently solve poetry’s mysteries.
Only One Life
You only live your life once...you only live today once…
you only live this hour once…
you only live this minute once…
you only live this second once…
LIVE IT LIKE YOU MEAN IT.

Valengrams
What are “valengrams”? Well, valengrams are a form with
candy attached to it. You had a chance to make someone happy
for Valentine’s Day! Our Central Middle Talented Music and
Theatre students sold them after lunch on last week. Here is
what some of the people had to say about them:
This is what Robert Paxton had to say about it:
“Excited, good. Thank you, you’re nice.”
Brian Johnson had a good review:
“Good. Sweet of her to buy him a gram.”

“Love”
Love is special
Love is kind
Love helps you get through the vines
Love never drowns out until you push it away
So remember
When you say “I love you”
Make sure it is the truth.
