1. To create a new PowerPoint presentation, open PowerPoint. PowerPoint creates a new

presentation by default, but in the event you close it and need to create a new presentation, select New from the Office menu or you can create a new presentation by pressing [Ctrl] N.

2. The first thing that you need to do when creating a PowerPoint presentation is to decide on the slide design. To do this, select the Design tab of the ribbon to see some of the available designs. If you want to see more of them at once, press the down arrow at the bottom of the left edge of the themes group.

3. To apply a design to the currently selected slide, select the design you wish to use. All other

slides will be unchanged. For uniformity, it might be best to open the Master View and apply a theme to all of the slides in your presentation at once.

Lesson 2: Working with slide master 1. Say for example, you are not happy with the font type (or color, or the placement of section in

the slide), so you want to change it. Instead of having to change the font type one by one in every slide (imagine the time you need if you have 100 slides!!!!), it is easier to do that using slide master. Slide master serve as the template for all the slides (hence it is called master…).

2. To open the slide master: View Tab -> Presentation Views ->Slide Master. Slide Master Tab appears on the left-hand side of Home Tab.

3. To edit slide master: Click on Slide Master Tab provides a set of Slide Master formatting

groups (Edit Master, Master Layout, Edit Theme, Background, Page Setup).

Lesson 3: Slide Transition 1. To apply slide transition: Animation Tabs -> Transition to This Slide. Move the cursor over

the transition buttons to preview the effects. Click on the Transition effect button to apply the slide transition effect. Click on Transition Sound button to apply sound effect for transition. Click on Transition Speed button to adjust the speed. Click on Apply to All to apply the same transition effect to all the slides.

Your task 1: Set different transition to each slide. Experiment the effect of setting different transition speed, or by including the sound, or by setting the „on mouse click‟ versus „automatically after‟ option. Once you are done, view the presentation to see the result (View -> Slide Show).

Lesson 4: Working with animation 1. Add a new empty slide at the end of your presentation.

2. Using drawing tool, create the following diagram (for the text box, font Arial 24)

3. What you want to do right now, is to have each of the items to come out individually.

4. To do this: Go to Animation Tab >> Animations >> Custom Animation. Custom

Animation panel appears on the right-hand side of the current slide. Select the object you wish to apply animation. Click the Add Effect button and choose the animation style. Frequently-used effects are found in "Entrance" styles in the menu. Click the Play button to preview the animation.

6. The moment you did this, observe that an icon 1 is tagged next to your first text box, and an entry is made into your animation list.

7. Now, select the first arrow (the one on the right), and apply the same effect (or a different

one.. it is up to you) to the arrow. 8. Repeat the steps with the rest of the text boxes and arrow. Remember, that you must apply

animation following the exact sequence on when you want the object to appear. 9. Now, if you click at each of the effect on the list, you will see a pull down menu. You could

specify the Effect options (adding sound, animating the text etc), or specify the timing or to remove the animation effect from the list (and off the object on the slide..!). You should experiment these choices to see how things work.

10. Once you are done, view the slide show to see the effect.
