2014 was a good year for the CMA CGM Group. Our volumes increased on all trades with 12 million TEUs carried. These excellent sales figures together with our on-going cost-cutting programme will give us positive results.

We shall start off the new year with the operational deployment of Ocean Three, a strategic partnership with China Shipping Container Lines and United Arab Shipping Company. This large-scale operational agreement reaf-firms our growth strategy and will reinforce the Group’s service offer on East-West markets. These new maritime services will combine efficiency with speed, whether on the Asia-Europe, Asia-Mediterranean, Transpacific or Asia-East Coast USA trade routes.

In addition, to meet the demands of our customers and to pursue our growth, we will receive the first 18,000 TEUs vessels in the course of the year and continue to receive ships from the 9,400 TEUs series thereby anticipating the broadening of the Panama Canal, and responding to the growing need for refrigerated transport. In this fast-growing sector, and having acquired more than 10,000 Reefers TEUs in 2014, we shall continue to invest in this type of added-value containers that require enhanced expertise in which the CMA CGM Group excels.

Moreover, once the competition authorities have given their go ahead, we shall proceed in 2015 with the integra-tion of OPDR, the German company acquired in Decem-ber, with its particular expertise in the intra-European

market. The strengthening of our intra-regional network which we started with Mac Andrews in 2002 and pursued with CNC in 2007 will continue with the addition of this company with high added value.

This year, we also intend to augment the diversity of our services to customers. It is to this end that we shall continue to develop the business of our subsidiary CMA CGM LOG, which is complementary to our broad mari-time offer, by developing our added value in logistics in order to offer comprehensive solutions in as many coun-tries as possible.

An exciting year lies ahead for CMA CGM, and I wish all of you the very best for 2015.

We shall start off the new year with the operational deployment of Ocean Three,

a strategic partnership.

OPDR, A MAJOR ACQUISITION FOR THE CMA CGM GROUP

The CMA CGM Group has acquired the German company

OPDR (Oldenburg-Portugiesische Dampfschiffs-Rhederei GmbH & Co.

KG). OPDR is a shipping company owned by the Bernhard Schulte

Group, specialising in Short Sea shipping lines and door-to-door

logistical solutions between Northern Europe, the Canary Islands, the

Iberian Peninsula, and Morocco.

The OPDR fleet is divided into 5 trades: Northern Europe and

the Canary Islands - Seville and the Canary Islands - Northern Europe, Spain, Portugal, and

Morocco - Northern Europe and Morocco - and Northern Europe,

Spain and Scandinavia. By uniting the capabilities of OPDR and

MacAndrews, the CMA CGM Group will strengthen its intra-European

offer as well as the bespoke intermodal solutions it provides to

its customers. Other synergies could also come about with the Group.

The acquisition is still subject to approval from the relevant regulatory

authorities.

CMA CGM RELEASES ITS NEW CORPORATE FILM

The Group premiered its new corporate film in September. It

explores the world of CMA CGM within the space of a few minutes. From Marseilles to Hong Kong via Morocco, the film emphasises the

international nature of this family business, which boasts strong human values. This is a Group that has not stopped growing

over the past 36 years, and one of its strengths can be found in the widely acknowledged expertise of its employees, which is made

available to customers. To ensure that the film reflected the Group

perfectly, CMA CGM did not use actors but its own employees, who

played their own roles. Watch the film on www.cma-cgm.fr

7,000 NEW LATEST-GENERATION REFRIGERATED CONTAINERS

JOIN THE FLEET

In October, the Group purchased 7,000 new latest-generation 40'

High Cube refrigerated containers, including 6,000 energy-efficient

containers. These new containers represent a 60% reduction in CO2 emissions in comparison with the first refrigerated containers. With a fleet of 185,000 TEUs, the CMA

CGM Group is currently the world's second largest shipper of refrigerated

containers, with over 850,000 TEUs loaded per year. The Group aims to

ship one million 20-foot containers by the end of 2015.

THE CMA CGM FOUNDATION FOR CHILDREN CELEBRATES ITS TENTH

ANNIVERSARY AND LAUNCHES “CHILDREN'S WEDNESDAYS”

In October, the CMA CGM Foundation for Children launched “Children's Wednesdays”, art workshops for

children cared for by associations supported by the Foundation. This event forms part of the CMA CGM

Foundation's tenth anniversary celebrations. The workshops will run

from October 2014 until May 2015 and give rise in June 2015 to an exhibition of

all of the work produced by the 100 or so children that will be involved in this

initiative. “Children's Wednesdays” has been sponsored by the painter Gérard

Traquandi, who will help all of the children with their art work.

CMA CGM Sustainable development driving innovation

For many years, the policy at CMA CGM has involved a number of actions which, when placed back to back, have led to extremely positive results in terms of sustainable development. “The proactive stance adopted by the Executive Management is based on a two-pronged approach. First - techno-logical innovation, and second - customer-driven innovation”, explains Julien Topenot, Group SSE Expert Manager. “This entire strategy is ultimately based on a single goal: to provide our customers with the most reliable transport solutions with the smallest carbon footprint”.

One of the most important technical innovations has been LNG fuelled engines. Behind this three-word acronym lies a revolution in Liquefied Natural Gas

which looks set to be the fuel of choice for the con-tainer ships of the future. The Group has for several years been working on the addition to its fleet of new vessels fitted with hybrid LNG/fuel engines. “The major advantage of these vessels of the future will be their much cleaner engines”, confirms Julien Topenot.

In fact, by fitting new vessels with these hybrid engines we will be able to drastically cut our emis-sions, with a 20% reduction in CO2 and a 92% reduction in SOX. NOX emissions will also be cut by 10%-20%, depending on the operating speed of the vessel.

Known for its cutting-edge innovation, its efficient naval tools and its commitment to sustainable development, each year CMA CGM puts more and more emphasis on the need for technological progress. New innovations are allowing the Group to reduce its carbon footprint and offer customers the most suitable transport solutions for their needs.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT DRIVING INNOVATION

Eco-vesselsThe technological innovation inherent to CMA CGM's values is applied to the whole of the Group's fleet, which is already reaping the benefit of nume-rous - and constant - technical advances in terms of environmental protection.

“We have one of the newest and most innovative fleets in the sector”, explains Ludovic Gerard, Exe-cutive Vice President CMA Ships, the CMA CGM subsidiary in charge of managing the company-owned fleet. “Since 2008, all our new ships have

been fitted with a range of technologies allowing us to drastically cut our CO2 emissions. From the engine, to the hydrodynamic hulls and appendages, to dockside electrical units, everything has been researched and optimised”. Thanks to these inno-vations, these ships have reduced their atmospheric emissions by an average of 20%.

The Group's flagship, the CMA CGM Jules Verne, is one of the best examples of this achievement, with an energy efficiency rating in anticipation of the standards set by the International Maritime Organi-sation for 2025.

However, it is not just our newest vessels that are benefiting from these latest technological innova-tions. Following on from the introduction of slow steaming, the Group's vessels now travel at eco-speed i.e. speeds lower than those for which they were designed. In order to adapt the hulls to these new speeds, a new bulb shape has been developed to reduce resistance. “This optimisation will mean an average reduction, based on the vessel's operating profile, of 5%-10% in CO2”, adds Ludovic Gérard.

Proof of the Group's commitment, in 2013 CMA Ships achieved ISO 14001 certification, the gold standard in international environmental manage-ment.

“Cleaner and cleaner ships will be demanded in the future for transporting goods. All our teams are committed to achieving this goal, both at day-to-day

A new bulb shape has been developed to reduce resistance and will mean an average

reduction of 5-10% in CO2.

level in the management and improvement of the vessels in service, and when designing the vessels of the future. This quality approach, for the benefit of both CMA CGM and the group's customers, is a well-recognised and welcomed strategy”, explains Ludovic Gerard.

Innovation also comes in boxesHowever, the on-board technical innovations are not the only ones. The CMA CGM Group is in effect pio-neering the development of eco-containers, with a fleet which currently accounts for around 10% of the company-owned fleet.

Since 2005, the Group has been developing nume-rous eco-containers, and in particular was the first to launch containers with a bamboo floor. The Group has also been improving the steel walls, with its Light Steel Containers which weigh 550 kg less. There have also been several innovations for reefer containers. The Group's fleet currently comprises over 30,000 reefers fitted with a low fuel consumption engine. Most recently, the Group has taken delivery of 7,000 new reefers, including 1,000 fitted with new Daikin engines. These new Daikin engines, which are energy efficient and particularly reliable, are uniquely desi-gned, with a hot gas defrost system as well as a dehumidifier both specifically developed to facilitate heat exchange inside the container and therefore better protect the cargo.

On the larger vessels, using these containers will save 1 to 2 tonnes of fuel a day, which represents 3 to 6 tonnes less CO2 emissions. Savings which can also allow the Group's customers to reduce their own carbon footprint.

Customer-driven progressMeasuring their carbon footprint has in fact become a key procedure for the Group's customers, many of whom are committed to ensuring sustainable development.

In 2011, the Group developed an eco-calculator for measuring the carbon footprint of a container ship-ment between any two points on the planet. Since early 2013, all customers who have registered with its e-commerce platform have, for each booking, been able to automatically calculate and view their CO2 footprint, for both the maritime and overland aspects of the journey (for pre- and post carriage).

This tool comes as preparation for another major advance, where customers will be able to receive custom reports, not just for a single journey but for all trips made by their cargoes throughout the weeks and months.

“The calculations will use actual consumption fig-ures for the vessels, their TEU on each line, the distances travelled as well as the carbon emission levels of each vessel. It represents a true decision-making tool for the Group's customers, who will be able to select the most ecologically-friendly mode of transport”, explains Julien Topenot.

Already, the Group's customers value the fact that, since 2005, CMA CGM has reduced its CO2 emis-sions per each container shipped and per kilometer, the greatest historical reduction the sector has seen, and plans to achieve a 50% reduction by 2015*.

Recognised activities and performanceCMA CGM's commitment to the environment takes the form of concrete actions, and official proof of its achievements can be found in the results of offi-cial assessments such as the Silver Level recogni-tion granted to it in September 2014 by the ratings agency ECOVADIS. This particular assessment is carried out each year and looks at corporate social responsibility, ethics and environmental protection across the whole of the Group.

Several partnerships also exist with international bodies such as the Clean Cargo Group, the Charte Bleue French shippers organisation, the Green Flag Initiative (California) and the Fair Winds Charter (Hong Kong). Last year, the Group won several

awards, highlighting the expertise and dedica-tion of CMA CGM to using ever cleaner ships. In November 2013, the Group won the Global Freight Award for the results achieved through its environ-mental policy. It also received the highest score for the Carbon Disclosure Product in the Transport & Logistics category, in recognition of its “activities, performance and transparency in the fight against climate change”.

The most recent accolade to date, during the Lloyd's List Awards in October 2014, honours the Group for its CSR achievements. “The awards we receive, and the good results of our audits, they all go to show that our Group is truly committed to promoting sus-tainable development. Every time, we are proud to see our teams being honoured and recognised for their work. And we haven't finished yet”, concludes Julien Topenet.

OCEAN THREEBUSINESS

239 weekly stopovers, 21 weekly services, 101 ports served operating 195 ships with a total capacity of 1.9 million TEUs: this is what CMA CGM can offer to its customers through the Ocean Three agreements.

Signed on September 9th with China Shipping Container Lines (the world's 7th largest shipper) and United Arab Shipping Company (the world's

18th largest), the Ocean Three agreement concerns the Group's biggest shipping lines: Asia-Europe, Asia-Mediterranean, Transpacific, and Asia-US East Coast. This agreement represents an important stage in the development strategy of the CMA CGM Group as it widens its service offer and confirms its global growth strategy.

Last September, the CMA CGM Group signed a strategic partnership agreement with UASC and CSCL. This partnership will let the Group offer its customers an even more attractive network for the East / West market. Discover the benefits of Ocean Three, a new offer designed to combine speed, flexibility and reliability.

AN OFFER DESIGNED TO COMBINE SPEED, FLEXIBILITY AND RELIABILITY

Thanks to optimized turnarounds with stopovers in all of the major Asian, European and North American ports and the use of trans-shipment hubs common to the three players, the number of weekly stopovers offered and journey times will be among the best on the market. Thanks to this configuration, CMA CGM will be able to let its customers enjoy an even wider range of services, of ever higher quality: competitive stopovers for French ports and Hamburg, more fre-quent departures from Yantian and Shanghai, reten-tion of the strategic hubs of Malta, Tangier and Port Klang, direct services to the markets of the Adriatic and the Black Sea, and innovative services such as Columbus on the East and West coasts of the United States and Pacific Express 3 in the US Gulf. For Nicolas Sartini, Senior Vice President Asia / Europe Lines, Ocean Three rounds off the Group's presence in the world's biggest sea trade markets and highlights the strengths of its network: “We are very happy with the new offering that we are going

to launch on the market as from January of 2015. Ocean Three is an alliance between Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Each party contributes its own culture and expertise. It is a real asset.”

Before this agreement, CSCL and UASC had already worked with CMA CGM for several years in a larger number of sectors. The fact that our partners use a lot of large ports where CMA CGM is present - major trans-shipment hubs such as Khor Fakkan and Port Klang - constitutes another benefit of this agreement. “It creates even more synergies and will produce savings during Feedering,” explains Nicolas Sartini.

Nevertheless, as Nicolas Sartini is keen to point out, it does not undermine the Group's current partner-ships with Maersk Line and MSC in other markets.

EXPERT LOGISTICS

The logistics needs of companies have changed to adapt to an increasingly global mar-ketplace and new consumer habits. In 2001, to meet these needs, CMA CGM created CMA CGM LOG, a company specialising entirely in logistics and forwarding. CMA CGM LOG continues to grow today and offers a new product range.

From maritime and air freight, pre and post-car-riage, and flow management to storage, filling, and loading: organising goods transport and manag-ing the necessary logistics are complex operations which require real expertise. And they are precisely the business of CMA CGM LOG, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the CMA CGM Group. Its mission is to offer clients the comprehensive range of services expected from a forwarding agent. “Our core busi-ness is offering reliable services for international transport. To do this, we create made-to-measure solutions that guarantee complete control of our clients' logistic flows,” explains Mathieu Friedberg, Vice President freight forwarding and logistics ac-tivities at CMA CGM who appointed at the head of

CMA CGM LOG in November. Mathieu Friedberg proudly adds that many of the major names in the industry continue to place their trust in CMA CGM LOG.

For Nicolas Tellier, Deputy Managing Director, the strength of CMA CGM LOG lies in its expertise, its global presence and, above all, the abilities of its teams. “CMA CGM LOG operates in around sixty countries and employs over 500 specialists. By the end of 2014, we will have our own offices in ap-proximately thirty countries, with a further ten due to open in 2015. We work across the globe thanks to our network of partner agents.”

AN À LA CARTE SERVICE, CUSTOMISED TO EACH CLIENT'S NEEDS.

What makes the company different is that it offers not only the services of the CMA CGM Group, but also those of other providers. This freedom guarantees an independent, flexible, adaptable and high quality service for our clients. “With its diverse and modern fleet of 428 vessels capable of responding to every need, transport capacities of 12 million TEU in 2014 and a global network of 400 ports of call across 150 countries, the Group is clearly able to offer a vast range of options. However, we also offer the services of other shippers and air carriers in order to be able to fully meet our clients' needs and offer them turnkey solutions,” adds Guillaume Hue, Head of Research & Business Development.

Multi-modal solutions comprising container ships, trains, barges, road and air transport are also available and make up our comprehensive service, fully adapted to our clients' needs. CMA CGM LOG also specialises in the management of all

types of non-standard cargo–whether hazardous, regulated, oversize, temperature-controlled or requiring individual secure transport–and which needs custom research and special management. “Being able to manage a range of logistics flows is very important for our clients,” explains Nicolas Tellier. “In addition, we make it possible for them to have just one single point of contact for their whole logistics and transport solution, which vastly simplifies the administrative process. We take care of everything.”

LOGISTICS CHAIN EXPERTISE, FROM START TO FINISH

Beyond its wide range of transport options, the company extends its activities to all aspects of the logistics chain–order preparation, supply, customs import and export formalities, regulatory compliance, reception, storage, consolidation and forwarding. “Our teams have the know-how and tools needed to manage complex logistics chains,” assures Mathieu Friedberg. He believes it is the company's international network, extensive expertise and great flexibility that make CMA CGM LOG able to meet its clients' needs, offering solutions geared toward the streamlining of costs and of logistics flows.

To complete its supply chain management services, the company uses a whole range of software, especially for tracking and reporting purposes. In particular, CMA CGM LOG has developed dashboards that integrate with its

operating systems, giving clients access to real-time information about their flows.

“This is a complicated business because the product we offer needs to be 100% reliable and that requires numerous skills,” continues Mathieu Friedberg, who is highly committed to promoting the human side of the company. “The skills and personal dedication of our on-site teams is clear to see.”

A COMPANY WITH A BRIGHT FUTURE AHEAD

In 2014, strengthened by a new surge and numerous investments, the time was right for the company to reinforce its systems, procedures and teams. Training has therefore taken centre stage in order to ensure an ongoing improvement in the quality of our services. For CMA CGM LOG, the future looks very promising, and a number of targeted sales and marketing actions are due to take place in 2015.

“Regions where the company is already strongly rooted will be further consolidated and their services extended even further: in France with Le Havre, Marseille and Dunkirk, in China, in Germany and Canada.” explains Mathieu Friedberg. New countries will also be developed, including Italy, Portugal, Spain as well as Mozambique and other African countries. “We have the right people in the right places,” he points out. “With a dozen new country offices opening every year, we are

all making every effort to be present in the major markets.”

With several new offices due for opening or in the pipeline, stronger teams, specialist employees with advanced training, and a 20%-30% growth in predicted volumes next year, CMA CGM LOG is looking to the future with confidence and ambition.

For CMA CGM LOG, the future looks

very promising, and a number of

targeted sales and marketing actions

are due to take place in 2015.

It all began in Germany in 1865, with the name “Badische Anilin und Soda Fabrik” (Baden Aniline and Soda factory). The company, based in Ludwig-shafen, soon established its expertise in manufac-turing dyes. BASF quickly became a key player in the European chemistry industry, with its workforce increasing from 7,000 in 1900 to 24,000 in 1920.

The Group ceased producing aniline and sodium carbonate some time ago, but it remains the global leader in the chemistry sector and employs 112,000 people worldwide. Its current product range extends from petrochemicals to fine chemicals and includes gas, biotechnology, pharmacy, plastics, paints, and products for the construction and farming sectors.

In 2013, the Group's sales reached 74 billion euros. Operating worldwide through its production sites and commercial services, Europe remains BASF's

domestic market but it is increasingly opening up to dynamic areas such as North America, Asia and South America.

The Group made news in the economics sector at the beginning of last September when it revealed its new claim. For Dr Kurt Bock, Chairman of the Board of Directors, the time has come to move from “The Chemical Company” to “We create chemistry”, a new claim that not only refers to science, but also to the chemistry that exists between individuals.

For BASF, this change to the brand's identity under-lines its commitment to collaboration and innovation with its customers and partners to foster sustainable development.

FACE TO FACE

BASF, a German firm that operates in many industrial sectors, is the world's largest chemical company. With 400 production sites in Europe, Asia, North America, South America and Africa, BASF serves customers in over 200 countries and distributes its products all over the world.

BASF

As an international Group and the World’s n°1, do you have specific requests in terms of transport?

Sustainability is one of the core elements of BASF’s “We create chemistry” strategy. In order to pursue sustainability in procurement, we believe it is essen-tial that our suppliers follow our commitment. This is described very clearly in our Supplier Code of Conduct.

From our Logistics Service Providers, in particular, we expect not only reliable quality and service, but also inventiveness and flexibility. Today’s markets are becoming more and more global, service requi-rements more demanding and differentiated, which increases complexity. Handling this complexity requires transparency, a clear definition of requi-rements and the development of joint solutions. This would be a way of reducing or even avoiding process breaks and slow-downs as well as ineffi-ciencies at the various interfaces.

How is transport organized at BASF?

BASF uses a variety of transport modes like railway, trucks, barges and liner shipping. In this context, intermodal transports play an important role for us. We have several global suppliers for liner shipping services. CMA CGM is one of them and we are doing business with you in all regions. CMA CGM provides us with both liner shipping and inland services.

BASF and CMA CGM have been partners for a long time. How do the two companies work together? We have indeed been working together for 30 years now. Having worked together for so many years, we highly appreciate CMA CGM’s high competencies in the handling and transportation of chemicals. As volatility of upstream and downstream markets has increased substantially in recent years, it’s a prere-quisite for us that our Logistics Service Providers are able to react swiftly in adapting capacities and capabilities. This is the path we have to continue.

Mindful of the fact that natural resources are limited and that the demand for them is constantly increa-sing, BASF is exploring new ways to make alterna-tive energy a viable and effective solution.

BASF is increasingly focusing on more functional products and solutions based on a clever com-bination of chemical components. The Group's research and development activities seek to best match market trends, turning scientific concepts into reality in order to create successful innovations, particularly in the automotive, construction, food and pharmaceutical industries.

The year 2015 marks a significant milestone for the company as it will then be 150 years old. The Group is preparing to celebrate this anniversary in a dynamic way by: encouraging the public to take part in developing solutions to tackle global challenges linked to urban life, smart energy and nutrition; kick-starting discussion through a new interactive online platform called Creator Space™ at www.creator-space.basf.com.

This will give customers, scientists, members of the public and specialists within the Group the opportunity to share thoughts and ideas. To mark its 150th anniversary, BASF has set the aim of pro-moting innovation and making a lasting contribution to society.

According to its directors, the Group's 150-year history is the best evidence that chemistry helps develop new ideas and solutions.

Being number 1 in France and world number 3 in container shipping means being able to manage a vast number of different branches of activities and skills. For Thierry Billion, Senior Vice President Human Resources, it is important to provide training for maritime shipping professions and to cultivate the values and spirit of CMA CGM.

“Our training modules were developed over 20 years ago, at the initiative of Jacques R. Saadé,” he explains. “They were initially designed primarily to induct new employees. As the company evolved, however, business training was introduced in 2001 with the launch of our inaugural internal university dubbed FIRST. Today, in order to ensure the trans-

mission of our values and methods, it is important to remain innovative when it comes to training.” This is why the company has just created a new structure at the Group's headquarters, called the CMA CGM Academy.

He sees it as the best way of guaranteeing quality training in all aspects of the shipping industry, as well as in other subjects such as people manage-ment, budgeting, finance and project management. “In order to improve our operating performance and quality, we are offering innovative LEAN and SIX SIGMA courses, which have demonstrated success within major corporations”, Thierry Billion says.

The CMA CGM Academy takes up one whole storey of the building, since it needs space where Group employees can study a wide range of courses, varying from half a day to six days in length. Training programmes in the shipping industry as well as modules in team management and change man-agement are on offer.

The Group's 20,000 employees can benefit from this training, which is provided by CMA CGM internal trainers as well as external providers, either face-to-face at the head office or virtually thanks to the more than 400 e-learning modules created by CMA CGM.

This internal university will also accommodate new employees who will attend from their very first day with the company, in order to discover the world of shipping and the company culture.

Although these courses are in response to a desire to harmonise the management processes without

sacrificing the Group's responsiveness, it is the human side inherent to CMA CGM's traditional core values that motivate the training team. “Our modules have excellent theoretical content together with innovative teaching methods which incorporate interactive elements in order to promote under-standing and learning,” assures Thierry Billion. “By expanding our knowledge and the possibilities for growth, this new structure comes in response to a genuine need among employees,” leading to a shared company culture, shared knowledge and a better understanding of our values.

Discussions are already under way into the pos-sibility of opening regional “hubs” of the CMA CGM Academy in other strategic regions, supported by our regional offices.

The launch of the CMA CGM Academy comes as part of the company's forward-thinking strategy and a desire to pool internal resources.

Career management, job transfers, train-ing, and personal development are the foundation of CMA CGM human resources policy and part of the company’s commit-ment to its employees. For several years now, training has been a priority for CMA CGM as it seeks to implement its HR policy. Now the company has created CMA CGM Academy, which represents a new vision of corporate training.
