Monthly meetings are held on the third (3) Wednesday of each month in the Ambassador Room (Level 1) at 7.00pm with judging commencing at 7.30pm. If you have an interest in photography, at any level, you are most welcome to join us.

You are under no obligation, simply enjoy the meeting, have a coffee and a chat with likeminded people and you just never know - you may have found a new interest.

We look forward to meeting you!Nancy Tear

Winners – Lee and Terry 17 points2nd Prize – Bill and Eric with 17 points 3rd Prize – Michele and Dave with 14 points Ladies’ High Score – 113 SueMen’s High Score - 140 Eric

Last week eight teams played six rounds. With two teams in the lead with seventeen points there was a full game play off to decide first and second places. Then there had to be a three way play off for the teams with fourteen points with Michele and Dave edging out the competition for third place. Another great evening and a close competition, nice to see Marissa again and also Sue who’s showing improvement every visit.

Dart players please remember there will not be a session on Friday 23 October as there is a function in the Sports Lounge that evening. Our Annual General Meeting is tentatively planned for 8:00pm on Friday 6 November but this date does have to be confirmed.

We welcome players of all skill levels. If you already play darts, or think you would like to, join our relaxed and friendly sessions in the Sports Lounge from 7:45 on Friday evenings. Cheers, Dave.

BILLIARDS & SNOOKER

Not much to report this week as i do not have results of last Thursday’s social handicap snooker competition i will include results in next week’s report. As always if any members would like to take part in our friendly social handicap Thursday night snooker competition all you have to do is go to the sport’s bar of Burwood R.S.L prior to 7.15 pm & have your name placed on the list & for only $2 you can compete for the wish cards. Late comers may not be included once the draw has been done. Please help out who ever is running the comp by being on time.

Nothing much to report in the N.S.W R.S.L teams single handicap billiards competition as last week a lot of players were in the N.S.W team that went to Melbourne. On Monday the 19/10/2015 our team travelled to North Ryde R.S.L to take on their team. On Wednesday 21/10/2015 our team will play the Smithfield 2 at Seven Hills R.S.L in a deferred match. As our team has a bye in the last round that will be their last match before the semis. At the moment the Burwood boyz are in 2nd place on the ladder and are well placed to make the semis.

Hope to see you round the tables.SNOOKERED 1

Burwood travelled out to Camden last Sunday for yet another crack at this crazy game - a game which can send otherwise normal human beings such as Alan Macleay (?) into nuclear meltdown or even care free Spanish taxi operatives such as Tony Estevez who was compelled by this great game to make an example of his ‘Limited Edition Lady Remington driver’ on the 9th hole. No doubt golf manufacturers such as Nike and Titleist to name but two will be waiting for his phone call this week.

It can also punish the player such as Patrick Meert who has just been trundling along minding his own business shooting 44 points every other week, collecting the chocolates and going home. Suddenly out of the clear blue sky handicapper sends his ‘my precious’ handicap into free fall and where’s that leave Patrick. Months and months of burgularising those 2 sweet numbers next to his name have been all for nothing?? Cruel game!

Of course none of this could detract from the day’s event - a stableford free for all - eventually won by Frank Nesci bouncing back from last week’s mediocre effort in the JBS and no doubt sending a message to Coach Anderson for next year. Frank scored 39 points and took home, somewhat begrudgingly, a bottle of Kiwi Grape Knee High to the envy of fellow club members.

Second place was won by David Grace with 38cb from a jet lagged Miro Cooper who, incidentally only arrived home the previous evening after an eighty day balloon ride around the world. He’s talking about writing a book??

Harold Roberts slipped into fourth with 36 followed by Paul Linnane 35, and a badly treated (?) Patrick Meert 33cb from Hugo Penz.Nearest the pins went to Gianni, Patrick Meert and Miro Cooper with Hugo Penz winning the nearest in 2 shots at 9 and Brian Sharpe the Guzzlers Cup. Our next game is November 1 at Penrith 6.30am tee-off and everyone is welcome to come along.Further info can be found by calling Paul Linnane 0432 367596 or Harold Roberts 0410 411425. Chopper

“KEEP LIVING THE DREAM”

The FishermanA farmer in the country noticed that a gentleman would fish at the lake (close to the farmer’s house) and would always leave with a stringer full of fish.

The fellow had a boat but a fishing pole was not to be seen. The farmer mentioned the situation to the game warden. The warden then started watching this man and all that the farmer said was true! The man would arrive at the lake in the morning and by early afternoon, he had a stringer full of fish.

The warden dressed like a fisherman one day and approached the man. They exchanged pleasantries and the stranger asked the warden in disguise to come fish with him. They boated for 45 minutes and arrived at a secluded spot.

The stranger then pulled out a stick of dynamite. The warden said, “I’m going to have to place you under arrest--I am a game warden and you are fishing illegally!”

The stranger calmly lit the stick of dynamite and handed it to the warden. The stranger then said, “Are you gonna talk or fish?”
