Clip and Go Organizer

Stash your small accessories in this handy Clip and Go Organizer!

Perfect for the in car clutter, sewing and embroidery room supplies, bathroom notions, and other items. Use fabric colors and designs that match your preference to customize this small keepsake bag. Read below for these free project instructions!

Supplies Needed: **1/4 yard fabric - for front of outer shell (we used cotton twill) **1/4 yard fabric - for back of outer shell (we used polyester brocade) **1/4 yard fabric - for inner lining (we used faux suede) **Medium weight cutaway stabilizer **Temporary spray adhesive

**Air-erase pen (or other marking tool)

**Tape measure

**Metal or plastic craft ring (we used a 5 inch diameter ring) **Badge Clip

Measure the circumference of the craft ring. The ring that we're using is 5 inches in diameter; the circumference is 16 inches. Take the measurement of the circumference and divide by two. Add one inch for seam allowances. Since our ring measured 16 inches, the measurement that we'll be using is 9 inches. This measurement will be the width of the fabric for the front, back, and inner lining pieces.

We'll begin by preparing the fabric for the front of the outer shell. Decide how high you would like the organizer to be and add one inch. We would like ours to be 7 inches high, so our final measurement is 8 inches. Mark a square on the fabric using your dimensions (ours is 9 inches wide by 8 inches high). Find the center of the shape by measuring and marking the center of each side and dividing by two. Then, draw lines to connect the marks. Where the lines meet is the exact center of the shape.

Spray a piece of cutaway stabilizer with temporary adhesive and smooth the fabric on top. Hoop the fabric and stabilizer together by aligning the marks on the hoop with the lines on the fabric.

Attach the hoop to the machine and load the design. Be sure to choose a design that fits well within the shape. Leave at least one inch of space between the design and the edges of the shape. Embroider the design.

When the design has finished, unhoop the fabric and trim the excess stabilizer on the back of the embroidery.

Cut out the shape.

Cut a piece of the back outer shell fabric the same size as the front embroidered piece (ours is 9 inches wide by 8 inches high). Align the front and back outer shell pieces with the right sides together and pin in place.

Sew a 1/2 inch seam along the side and bottom edges. Be sure to leave the top edge open.

Turn the fabric right side out and press the seams with an iron.

Cut two pieces of the inner lining fabric using the same dimensions as the outer shell pieces (ours is 9 inches wide by 8 inches high). Align the pieces right sides together and pin in place. Sew a 1/2 inch seam along the side and bottom edges. Again, be sure to leave the top edge open.

Fold the top edge of the outer shell portion in 1/2 inch and press in place.

Now, fold the top edge of the inner lining portion to the outside 1/2 inch and press in place (leave the inner lining turned wrong side out).

Before we sew the shell and inner lining together, we will create the loop. Cut a piece of fabric to 2 1/2 inches wide by 4 1/2 long. Fold the long edges in to meet in the center and press in place.

Then, fold the long folded edges together and press in place. Sew a seam along each of the long edges.

Insert the loop through the end of the badge clip, align the ends of the loop, and sew a few stitches at the end to tack the loop together.

Now that you've made the loop, we can complete the shell and inner lining. Insert the inner lining inside of the outer shell.

Insert the ring over the inner lining sliding it in between the inner lining and outer shell.

Align the folded edges of the inner lining and outer shell together and pin in place. Also, insert the clip loop in between the layers in the middle of the backside of the organizer and pin in place. Insert the end of the loop in about 1/2 inch in between the layers.

Sew a 1/8 inch seam along the entire top edge of the organizer. Be sure to keep the ring away from the needle as you sew. Also, keep the clip loop laying straight out as you sew over it.

Push the ring up as far as it can go along the top seam. Pin along the bottom edge of the ring about one inch from the top edge of the organizer.

Using a zipper foot, sew a seam about 1/4 inch from the ring all the way around the bottom edge of the ring. This creates a pocket which keeps the ring in place.

You now have a nifty little organizer for all your accessories! Fill it to the brim with keys, clothespins, thread scraps, or whatever you wish. The uses are endless!
